Most major rivers are like 40 or so wide, that is clearly close to 80 without attempting a count...

Fifty seems more likely than eighty though that's still the widest one I've heard of.

My counting may not be the most accurate, but I count 48 tiles across for that river.

Set up some upright spike traps along the bottom of the pit. You don't even have to link them to anything, they're extended by default, adding damage to any fall onto them.

Cows are pretty good too, but they don't breed as fast as dogs do.
Dunno why ppl have this idea, cow and dogs have the same grow rate, but cow is 20 times bigger

Dogs give birth to multiple children at once, and cost less at embark per unit of meat produced (I think it works out that for the price of a cow, you could buy enough dogs to get 4/3 the amount of meat).

Drunks have to be a full time job.  Think about it; Dwarves are always drunk.  Their standards for a town drunk are really, really high.

Can't you assign noble positions to drunks?

building destroyers will go for doors and floodgates too, though considering that creatures can see through windows it paints a bit of a different picture of what goes through the destroyer's mind.

Door/Floodgate: Hah! think you can keep me out with a simple door!? ha! there, it's gone hello...lava!!! aaaahhh!!!!!

Window: Hah, nice window they got, I think I'll take it down. hmm, that is some lovely magma on the other side of this....CRAP I DIDN'T THINK THIS THROUGH!!!!!!

when trading with a caravan, if all of the things you have marked to trade were made by your fort, you can press o to offer it to that caravan's civ.

Make some rows of chairs and designate the area as a meeting area. If you have other meeting areas then it shouldn't get too crowded.

If you get any statues of dieties place them along the back wall, so that your worshipers of other pansy non-blood gods can worship there as well. If you get any badass dieties you can place them at the front entrance.

can you make three grate wide hallways?
I'm pretty sure grates need to be connected to something that isn't a grate

You need a corpse stockpile, not a refuse stockpile.
