What is all this I hear about seeds (including in the most recent devlog) about? I read the unofficial changelog, but I found nothing about it.

So is there a wiki for this game? I was pretty much completely reliant on the SS13 wiki when I first started playing it and this game seems similar.

The jap bombers are not very good because of the very limited bomb load. Their best aspect is their gunners which get some 20mm cannons. Most people say the americans have the best bombers and I have to agree simply because of their toughness, their good bomb loads, and the 50 cals they get for the gunners. Many say the easiest way to grind for XP and money is to get the first B-25 and just bomb stuff in HB.

I, and many people I play with, absolutely love the 109 series. They have the speed, climb rate, and energy retention to beat nearly anything at its rank. Fully upgraded, the thing absolutely kicked ass when flown properly. The thing with the american and german fighters is that they require a much more complicated way of flying then just going for the nearest enemy and turning with them because they are bad at turning but are fast. The pure speed gives you the ability to choose the terms of the fight. Not liking the look of two spits vs you? Just turn your ass around with a reverse immelman and speed for some teammates because the spits will never be able to keep up. Enemy hurricane (Or anything at your tier or below) below you trying to escape? He is hilariously screwed unless he tries to turn, in which case you can just do passes on him until he is dead. German vs. american match? Just climb full speed right towards the middle and be 2 km above the nearest enemy. The only time energy fighters like the 109s suffer is if you are below the enemy, in which case you are screwed unless you can beeline it for teammates. In you are in AB, you can load up the two extra 20mm gun pods alongside the amazing mine rounds and pretty much destroy anything that gets in front of you. Before tier ~8, nobody in AB energy fights, so you can safely BnZ until a bomber gunner gets lucky or somebody manages a snap shot on you.

Now, the yak-9T vs 109 argument. I would take a 109 of any type over the 9T any day. The 37mm gets so little ammo that it is not even worth using in HB and it is simply not good enough of a plane to use. "A decent 12.7 as backup" Ha, no. A single 50 cal cannot do shit at the tier the 9T is at. That, alongside the very low ammo for the 50 cal makes it also pretty useless. The 9T only really excels at bomber hunting. If you are planning on fighter killing, I would for sure call the 9T and 9K under armed.

As I typed this two posts regarding ramming were posted. Why not. I see ramming in a generally bad light unless it was justified. For example,  if an undamaged P-47 rams into a bomber for no reason, that is just stupid. The 47 is just causing frustration for the bomber and denying himself a kill. An A6M of any type ramming into a bomber is justified because the chance of being able to knock one out before the gunners light the zero on fire is nearly non existent. If a plane is heavily damaged or out of ammo, that is another scenario where ramming is okay.

The thing about russians is that they get the superfast fireing machineguns ALONG with devastating cannons.
I had my tail and wings ripped off constantly by LAGGs and other russian aircraft.

Also who plays HB anyway? Last time i checked i had to wait 10 minutes to get in and whne i finally got in noone could hit anyone in the air (i was flying in a HE-112 around dozens spitfires) none of them could hit me and i couldn't hit any of them.
After spending all of my ammo i returned to the airfield and got killed while stationary.

It's pretty dull if you ask me.

HB is actually played quite a bit. Most high ranking people I know nearly exclusivly play HB because it is far less like a twitch shooter and rewards thoughtful gameplay rather than reflexes. It is like playing a flightsim with mouse control and many people like that. The reddit warthunder squads which I am a part of almost exclusively play HB because it also awards teamwork more. AB, on the other hand, is pretty much chaotic clusterfucks of dogfighting where all you do is point the nose of the plane towards the nearest enemy and click, sometimes bombing or capping.

Also, in regards to your bit about russian planes, did you even read my post? Although I agree that the MGs on the low tier planes are too much, somebody playing with any amount of strategy will easily be able to beat any of the russian planes with massive cannons. Beyond the two med rank yak 9s, all of their cannons are 20mm with the IL-2 ground attackers getting 23mms. AKA the same cannons that other nations get. The 20mm mg 151 that the germans get is actually better than the cannon the russians get because it can load mine rounds, which are HE rounds specially made to hold significantly more explosive matierial and do a lot more damage. If you compare the ShVAK the russians get to other nations cannons, it is really in the middle in quality. Also, the laggs don't even get the fast firing machine guns that the low tier russians get. In fact, the only time the fast firing MGs appear past tier 2 is on bombers and the IL-2. I don't want to write about how the russians planes are really not that good any more, so just go back and actually read my posts and come back when you have a reason they are OP.

The thing about the Russians is that, no matter what tier they're at, they do have some horribly powerful weapons. The damage they can do with even a split second of fire can usually damage your plane enough that your advantages are nullified. They can also be a pain in the ass for US planes, since the US's HMGs used in boom and zoom combined with the sheer hardiness of most of the Russian aircraft can sometimes result in the Russian plane surviving a pass without being drastically reduced in flying ability.

But the firepower is not really that great no matter what tier they are at. Starting at around tier 6, every country but the americans have cannons on most planes. From rank 5 up to rank 13 the yaks have single cannons in the nose and the la line get double cannons at rank 7 and single cannons at rank 3. If you compare that with similarly tiered planes from other countries, the arnament on them is really normal. As for the two "big cannon" planes, the 9T and the 9K, they are really just not that good. The K is pretty useless for anything but luck shots and hitting bombers because of the low firing speed and bad accuracy. The 37mm on the T is still really not that good. Most of the complaining comes from people getting unlucky and letting the T get a hit on them. Really, if I could have two equally performing planes with the only difference being that one has the 37mm and one has a 20mm, I would chose the latter. The firerate and ammo count on the 37mm is just not enough to be effective against a opponent who knows what they are doing.

As for the .50s, I don't see any reason for complaint after the recent MG buff. A single accurate burst from the P-47 at convergence is normally more than enough to heavily damage or set on fire an enemy, especially with the belts made up of API. Against the russians though, I see the problem. Their bad habit of putting out fires can make fires nearly useless against them. Do you play HB or AB? All it takes is a slightly red wing and any plane will have major trouble turning in HB. Damage has much less of an effect in AB and you really need a crit to take anything out. FRB isn't even worth talking about since a red wing is normally enough to send a plane spiraling to their death.

Alright, I have not been playing a long time, only 9 or 10 in each country, but I have to disagree with the "russians are OP" that some people are shouting about.

I will admit, they need nerfing when it comes to levels 0-2. They are simply too good compared to their competitors. On the other hand, ranks 3-19 for the russians is mediocre. Let's look at the yaks, the main soviet fighters. Their turn rate? Meh, spits and zeroes can outturn them. Climb rate? Germans can beat them. Speed? Both germans and americans can beat them. Firepower? 1 cannon for the lower ranks is not great, but they generally stay on par when it comes to firepower. Their only real advantage is how general purpose they are. No matter what plane you are in fighting yaks, you can beat them in something assuming you are similarly tiered. The only thing they truly excel in is their toughness, which is a bit exaggerated to be honest.

And then the La series. Starting with the lagg 3, it is a solid line. At its tier, it is one of the better planes with the single 20mms and the high speed. In that low tier, most people completely ignore energy fighting so a properly flown lagg can be a hell of a plane unless somebody who knows how to counter it steps up. Their weakness is that they can barely turn compared to most fighters at their rank and anybody who has more energy than the lagg can easily beat it. Next up, the la-5. Another solid plane, it can hold its own. It used to be broken as hell and had seemingly endless energy retention, but that only lasted a week before it was fixed. It is a good energy fighter with good acceleration, decent climb, and a turn rate that can just barely beat the 109s. Once again, most planes at its rank can beat it if flown properly. All similarly tiered germans can beat its climb and speed and all similarly tiered brits can out turn it. The story is the same with the La-7. As for the firepower, 2x 20mms can get the job done, but they are really lacking on ammo.

Of course, the big thing people complain about it the yak-9T. Honestly, if you find yourself getting killed by a yak-9 a lot, you need to change something in your play style. The only good thing about them is the big ol 37mm on them. Other than that, they are a pretty shit plane. They are also pretty useless in HB because that gun has very little ammo.

To sum it up, the russians are jack of all trades and masters of none. Somebody who does not know their plane will probably be killed when fighting a russian but anybody who knows their strengths and weaknesses will be able to easily defeat them. People shouting about russians past rank 2 being OP, it is not the planes that need changing but it is you that needs to change your playstyle.

My biggest hope for tanks is that is that they use a damage model similar to the old WWIIOL. As in as much realism as possible. It is possible shell goes right on through hitting nothing. Pens generate shrapnel and even bounces causes spall. The only way to destroy a tank is to kill everything inside or explode the thing. Realistic insides of the tank for damage model purposes such as locations of the engine, fuel tank, ammo rack, etc.

Also, I imagine there being historical and arcade, possibly full real like with planes. In arcade, I would guess there are smaller maps and a more WOT like gameplay with repairing tracks and other parts of the tank. In HB, you get larger, more realistic maps and the full damage model where if you get tracked you are either stuck there or possibly be able to send out the crew to repair it (unlikely). In FRB I would guess that you have the full sized maps, but you are stuck with the view from inside the tank and no markers, similar to the current plane FRB. Another thing I have hopes for is also the WWIIOL spotting system, which is to say no spotting system. It is your job to keep a look out for enemies, no magical flashing sign over their head if get near enough to them but instead they are always there and it is up to you to spot them.

Anyways, thoughts on that? How do you all think Army is going to work out?

A lot of people recommend G-senjou no Maou. I have played through some of it, and it seems absolutely amazing so far.

Well, I had my best character yet, and my first one to make it out of the underwater tunnels. I was absolutely kicking ass with nothing thus far able to give me any real threat when I saw a HUGE room. There was a broken mithril sword in it which I went to grab, but on the way there a little message popped up "You here a quiet thud, press any button to continue". It turns out the room was trapped with a large mine. The next turn, my left leg got destroyed in the explosion, but I had enough HP left that I might be able to survive. Suddenly, my wand of door creation and wand of thunder started on fire. The wand of door creation exploded first, surrounding me with at least 15 doors. Then, my wand of thunder exploded, sending me into negative 20 HP.

Such a good character too  :-\

Yeah, I am in the beta. I am disappointed at how arcade-y it is. And it had so much potential....

I would also vouch for the old, generated map mainly because you actually have to make your own cover on them instead of just hiding in a pre-build tower or being forced down a tiny bottleneck. All my favorite games have been on those maps.

I am also going to feel like a complete stranger on the server.

I sprinted through an open field into the town we were attacking. At some point right at the end of my run, a German shot out one of my legs. Despite this, I managed to crawl into a building and get up the top floor. Because I was the only allied player to make it into the enemy town, nobody bothered clearing buildings as far back into the town as I was in. I stood up by a window and began shooting the Germans in the back. I managed to get 7 kills, which is pretty damn good for that game, before somebody realized that there was somebody behind their own lines and started to go after me. He must have started to shout it out over the radio that I was there, because a huge amount of them completely abandoned the defense of the city and started attacking the building I was in. Sadly, they made the smart move and threw grenades in, not giving me a shot on them.

By diverting that many enemies, the rest of my squad was able to make it into town and capture a spawnable point (An area that allows players to "warp" into through a exploit that the developers never bothered fixing because it actually adds to the gameplay). After this, we completely flooded the town, capturing it.
