General Discussion / Re: Egypt and the world
I translate the marvelous declaration of Italia foreign minister : "We should not give the impression that we export our democracy. We should help and support pacific reconciliation". BECAUSE THESE FUCKERS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLE IMMIGRATION IF THE REGIME IS TOPPLED.
They can count on immigration either way. Libya is no more, and whatever emerges from this ordeal without serious foreign aid and guidance isn't going to be pretty.
I would like to say that all of this seems terribly foreboding to me. If the revolutionaries succeed, with the absence of international support, we might just be able to count on a new wave of authoritarian leadership who find they have a lot more in common with each other than their predecessors did.
In that light, could this culminate in a united, anti-western league of middle eastern states under the flag of the so-called "Arab Revolution?"
