I am quite tired of babysitting my dwarves. I like that it cancels the dig but I don't like that it pauses my game. anyway to disable to pause?

I added the tag and now I have dog bone carvers... does that also make their fighting skills level up to?

I was wondering if a nice big bridge/highway that connects all my bodies of land increase my contact with other races and cultures. I have already started a test but I was curious if anyone knew.
