It's interesting that he chose to fix it that way instead of making dwarves just stop leading animals when struck by a mood.  Maybe indicative of the inflexibilities of animal hauling or the job system in general.

I think that may have been more from the chaos that would be caused if you were attempting to pit a megabeast when the dwarf was struck by inspiration for that fantastic cedar earring and abandoned the creature to go make his masterpiece. It's a kindness to the player, in a sense.

Question on the goblin blood rain... Is your whole embark on the evil biome? If not, does the goblin blood restrict itself only to the evil area, or does it happen over the whole map?

I recently embarked on an evil lake. It got a "vile mucus" rain that caused nausea, fever, and bruising wherever it touched the skin - but it only ever fell in the lake, not on land.

So yes, evil weather phenomena are limited to the evil biome portions of the map, in my experience.

As he said, they're @ symbols, but have normal migrant professions. I encountered this too some time ago. Still not sure what to make of it, myself.

then go forth and repopulate the world..... with you.

"The best thing about being me... There are so many "me"s."

That said, thank you, Hotaru. I've been wanting to experiment with a husk adventurer for some time, so this gives me a great opportunity.

Vanod isn't divine, he's just like the Primordial Man.

Vanod is Guts if Guts had blond hair and a spear.

Vanod is Guts because you are what who you eat.  ;D

As an aside while you're waiting:
[comic]

Silly Dwarf King, that's what cut microcline is for. Plug them eyeholes good!

*coughs and looks around furtively* Any chance we could convince you to... share your creation? <_<

Small squads for training has already been mentioned as a method to promote sparring. Let me add to that, if you're lazy like me and don't want to carefully manage uniforms to make sure everyone's wearing all the right armor, you can get the same effect in a larger squad by issuing multiple training orders for the same month with a minimum of 2 dwarves performing the task. I've successfully had 6/10 members of a squad sparring simultaneously this way (and the only reason it wasn't all ten was because I issued three orders instead of five, to allow them to cycle out to drink and such), when without the multiple orders you'd wind up with two dwarves sparring and the rest doing individual combat drills.

Hmm... I think I'd enjoy being a god. A god of... Food. No, wait. A god of encrusting goods with cut stones. Build me a temple with four bland stone statues encrusted with microcline! Or orthoclase. Both hurt the eyes right.

Actually, I think I had success cutting clay before...

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Loitering - Why?

This behavior has actually been around for quite some time. I frequently have dwarves hanging around sites where they were involved in battles, where someone they cared about died, or perhaps most oddly, where they got stuck ("Hey, Urist! Remember the time I walled myself in over here?"). I'm afraid I can't shed any light on what causes it.

"If I bring 2500 granite boulders with me, I should be able to erect a wall between me and the evil part of my embark site before the undead attack."

Note: It was zombie giant wrens that attacked. Walls were effectively irrelevant; those putrid rotting corpses could fly.

I was going to say, in a world where starvation, ninja stealth assaults by massive titans, kidnapping and conversion by evil night creatures, rampaging giant creatures (Anyone else wind up with a pack of giant dingos having historical rampages? As a group, no less?), and war are all ways one could prematurely meet their end, I'd say he was pretty successful in extending his life. Maybe not forever, but you know, maybe he decided that was for the best in the end.

DF General Discussion / Re: This video made me rage, no joke.

This video made me rage, too.

Sure, I'm disappointed that it looks to be so very, very similar to Dwarf Fortress. That bothers me as much because my favorite pen and paper game company, Palladium Books, basically got squeezed out of the option of making a game based on their RIFTS franchise by the MMORPG RIFT, which snuck in and snagged the title - to say nothing of the vast similarities between content. (Summary in spoiler at bottom)

What really made me rage, though, was that voice over. Seriously. It just... I mean... I... RHHAAAAAAGGGGGG! *flips desk*

Spoiler: Off Topic (click to show/hide)

The recent versions of DFHack actually have a function to export a Runesmith-compatible XML file containing dwarf information. I know that I've used it with the Guidance Counselor, myself, and while I'm not sure if it contains all of the information you require (I know some of it seemed to be missing or simply not displayed when I loaded the XML in the Counselor), it may do the trick. The command is the wonderfully simple: dwarfexport

Edit: damn typos.

In worlds where I played a necromancer, embarking anywhere my necromancer had traveled and left undead behind before retiring resulted in getting ambushed by the dead. It was actually kind of funny.
