DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Blind dwarves
« on: January 03, 2011, 08:34:53 pm »
I highly recommend crossbowdwarves and large training rooms.  They shoot in random directions and bolts are sprayed every which way.  A couple legendary blind marksdwarves shooting down a gopher outside would block out the sun for any goblin sieges.
this.
every blind dwarf is given a crossbow and is renamed dare devil.

Heres what I'm planning on doing.
taking all my goblin prisoners into a giant arena (soon to be build) and then releasing them and placing a huge amoutn of wooden weapons and armor in their area.

then I'm releasing a dragon on the other side

WILL THE GOBLIN ARMIES BE ABLE TO SLAY THE MIGHTY DRAGON?!

I sent my mason to build me a wall in my tunnels, and he walled himself out onto a level 3 cavern.
suddenly, tons of mineral discoveries, and ADAMANTITE!
If he had a corpse to recover (he walked into 2 forgotten beasts) I would give him a golden coffin submerged in alcohol.

you will need about 10 jails, all of them very well equip so that the dwarf isnt too upset about randomly being imprisoned.
either that or you get a new noble with less desirable tastes...

I found this out the hard way when my mayor who loved adamantite decided to punish everyone with the armorcrafting/blacksmithing ability...
after my 5 jails filled up, justice was dispensed via a legendary axedwarf.... new armorsmith is still training.

Technically if they've just taken forges they aren't insane yet. Well, not significantly less sane than normal.

meh, same to me...
oh look, a zinc crossbow and a silver war hammer!

No initial effect, but things arent getting worse, thanks!

edit: dear god... the halls, vomit free....
PRAISE BE TO AMOK, BLOOD SHALL BE SPILLED IN YOUR GLORY!!

IMMIGRATES TO THE CHAMBER OF JOB EVALUATION!!

the dwarves succumbed to the rot, but 2 dwarves went insane and both have taken up forges so it all balances out.

Ok, from some freak forgotten beast got my dwarves sick with a useless but ungodly annoying disease.
they throw up, all the friggin time.
I've tried cleaning the base with DF cleanbase, separating the dwarves into rooms for a bit, etc.
I've come to realize that I am the god of these dwarves and while throwing nobles into pits is fun, I wish to extend my powers upon these little creatures in a good way.

....
TL;DR version: how would I get rid of dwarves being able to vomit and be nauseous? craps getting old.

oh and rot... seriously the vomiting was bad, now the crapping misma is too much. almost considering abandoning the fort and reclaiming it.

give the fort a visit in adventure mode.

I'm just dumping the stones via garbage piles.

their puking because some damn forgotten beast a couple years back with a nasty syndrome. nobody died from it, apart from a child who wanted to play "touch the forgotten beast".

and thanks for the idea about the masons shop... my last legendary mason died because he decided to be on the wrong side of the wall he was building around a tunnel.. scouted a lot of the underground for me though.

so, recently finished up the carving of my new deep underground base, and there is an enormous amount of stone, and after hours of dumping, I've yet to even clear a portion of it, despite having 180 dwarves working around the clock.
Can I just hide all of it or will it get in the way of stockpiles/future farms?

edit: and, is there a way to get rid of nausea? All of my dwarves are nauseous and puking which causes more dwarves to get nauseous and puke which causes more dwarves to get nauseous and puke and so forth.

dear urist mchauler
Love how determined you are to hauling those items, but really, the forgotten beast in tunnel 7 is reason enough not to try and haul items.

Dwarves get disturbed by traffic, so having them path through eachothers bedrooms is not nice.  :-\

Looks super purdy though! :D

dwarves get disturbed by everything...

One of my axedwarves I forgot to assign a battle axe to...
hes still got 79 kills
with his friggin steel shield
now I'm curious if I should give him an axe or not...

That depends.  Has he grown attached to his shield yet?
yes, and he named it...
can dwarves equip 2 shields at once?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Stealing from a caravan

when you seize goods from a caravan, all they say is "well take what you want, I cant stop you" then after your done stealing they depart; so steal everything you need in the first run.
