DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

OH GOD OH GOD

So a dozen elfs show up riding giant jaguars. No problem, the trap gauntlet will take care of that.

Then a dozen more show up on giant leopards. Hm. How many traps have I got in that trap gauntlet?

Then a dozen MORE show up on giant jaguars. Uh. This might be a problem. I've only just started building Tinwonders a danger room, so my military right now is a bunch of people who do parades in the hall-

Then a dozen MORE show up on giant leopards. Oh shi-...

And then the goblins arrived.

Needless to say the elves are no longer quite a problem, but the goblins pretty much finished off my "military" in the process. Cue tantrum spiral! Dwarf Fortress, putting the "FUUUUUUUU-" back in "FUN!"
Haha, holy shit. How can you even have militia untrained when you've already triggered sieges? :o

Okay, I have an elite wrestler who's legendary fighter and wrestler because he wrestled an ogre, but still.

2 miners, along with an innocent pair of cats and a woodcutter dead.
No such thing as innocent cats. Those miner realized this and heroically foiled the nefarious feline plots!

Also; my first regiment (set up to combat ogres and harpies) is named 'the creative generals' and the second squad (for melee) is named 'the creative soldiers' not sure if this is facepalmable, but it's not very creative. :P

I'd keep the axedorfs as they are and simply set up a new squad with crossbows.

Quote
2 Kings 2:23-25: From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. 25 And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria
This means Bethel must have been a pretty big city if more than 42 boys was considered 'some.' :o

Ahhhh. How unfortunate. Catapults still look bad-ass on the walls, though. :P

stuff falling from height do not hurt anything below. Exception being creatures falling onto other creatures.
Really? Then how come cave-ins above your Dwarfs are lethal? :o

Pudge can be leg-shaped.

the moatkeeper/brewmaster will gladly observe goblin/elves/cheesemaker/whathever
Hey, respect for cheese makers. I had a high master cheesemaker who had good 10 notable kills and 85 non-notables as MCaptain with an adamantine short sword. Catten Lolornefek Duraddak Dakas. But that fort became a bit boring so I'm doing other things now. :P

Ogres in the very first season of Mansionran. We killed one (two woodcutters and a hunter + 3 dogs) and the other one we scared off a couple of times, wounding her. She managed to kill one of us, a doggy, by grabbing it's nose and flinging it against the hill. The dog exploded into at least four bits, two legs, tail and head are all separate from the actual corpse.

Edit; ah. All legs are in different spots. Yipes.  I wish I could butcher ogres.

Edit3; woo, the ogre bitch fled! Victory!

Well, the projectile certainly went down, so I could only assume that anything beneath that would get wounded by it. Dropping a stone normally from a height wounds as well, doesn't it?

Migrants arrived in Decenthelms first summer (among them a high master armorsmith.) Also, two ogres are tromping about.

Edit; abandoned. Didn't much like the 8 vultures, no weapons and the two ogres who easily murdered Dwarfs. Too bad, it was a nice name and a nice location as well.

Catapults definitely do. What comes up will make a spirited effort in coming down, after all.

They look awesome to have on your walls. Though one of those massive boulders (or gold nuggets :D) a catapult launches should make very short work of the Goblin it's hit.
