Masterwork DF / Re: What's happening in your Fort.

Oh dear. Teach your Dwarves to make the sign of the cross.

Also my Orks seem to die. Just now a speaker/boworc was found quite dead and I don't know why, and like 20z's higher a wrestler is heavily wounded (frost bite all over including her lungs!) and can't breathe. And they apparently stopped putting bricks neatly aside when tearing out part of a floor, instead just dropping it like madmen. Dropping themselves at times.

Edit; Drow seem to have the intention of killing me. They brought a squad of war cougars, one of war jaguars, a claivemaster squad with an (elite) shadowsniper, a squad mounted on flies and bats and their high priestess has arrived with more shadowsnipers and shielddancers.

Edit2; my losses seem to have been basically all animals outside (except for my guardian of armok, I also seem to have gotten a second!), a handful of those bugged 'friendly' traders (and metalsmiths), a goblin caravan got rubbed out, a shaman/farmworker was murdered and Ama the boworc/one of three legendary leatherworks drowned in my moat along with two Drow.

Their losses were their high priestess (kicked in the brain by my warchief), three drow shielddancers, two claivemasters, 7 war cougars, 3 war jaguars,  7 giant roaches, 4 giant beetles, a giant toad, a boozebelly goat, a giant fly, a dromedaris and an ironclad horse.

Which means I won. :D Too bad the siege worked as a series of ambushes.

Asgashazguub stronk!

Well, that's kinda creepy. Of course it's a quirk in the scripting, but still kinda creepy. I suddenly had a statue of my clan leader; the Olog Tugbuur Leaguefly getting appointed to his position. After some investigating I found out it came from a relic.

IT WAS FORETOLD.

Also he's wearing a lamellar leather shoe, a cloth shoe, a Xsilk shirtX and silk trousers. Raggedy enough to be a prophet. My Orcs had also earlier found a guardian of Armok, which is a neat lovely indeed.

Oh wow, I don't think I'd seen them pre-masterwork. Also my skilled use of ragequit and reloading (:P) helped contain losses; only a woodworker and most of cavern 2 was set ablaze, no fighting. I'm kinda just waiting now until I can use the cavern again.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE THOSE FLOATING BRAINS

They turned a woodworker into a pet/livestock. And on fire. Another they berserked and when that berserker had to be killed my military orks attacked each other (and each other's babies; one of my boworcs had a baby with her).

I'm having trouble accepting loyalty cascades as a feature.

Are floating brains SUPPOSED to make my orcs berserk and murder each other? Because that's a dangerous ability.

That's odd, you're supposed to be able to have ten people in it. You did assign a military commander (warchief) and created a squad based on this orc, yes?

Oh wow, lucky bugger.

Also I started a new fortress. Kobolds but I didn't get a shovel and didn't feel like it. New. Warlocks. Crashed when I unpauzed. Hum. Then an ork one. Badlands. A bit badder than I thouhgt; sandstorms, no trees. I butchered one bull to use the bones for beds. Rest of my animals and my clan leader were murdered by giant desert scorpions. Nice, nice start. Great.

Why are there two friendly deity 'others' in my fortress? Maybe instead of friendly deities game was supposed to spawn megabeasts? :o

Nope. Those are from friendly civs. Demons can take over as leaders. Megabeasts are megabeasts. The game will never spawn anything that isn't a megabeast on accident when it means to spawn a megabeast. Titans are megabeasts, btw.
Hm. Okay. But why are they heeeere. D:

... does it maybe have to do with me trying to invite a human diplomat? I seem sort-of-at-war with the humans because their first diplomat got ate by a marbled aengiswaeard.

tbh, to properly play bigjobs we'd need far more x and y and not as much z. Simply put; I can't imagine a human underground city.

Masterwork DF / Re: Dwarven Guards feel useless, please help!

I just targeted the whole lot; which I assumed was the reason for their indecisiveness. It didn't help THAT poor beardo either that another aim-for-ya-throat squad appeared to his south, and most his companions were nowhere near.

And my current MCom is superfast compared to his melee-brethern.

Goblin archers are mean ol' buggers, but I found that simply giving your Dwarfs shield and specific targets helps. At least, it's looked a few times as if indecisiveness (?!) was the bane of one of my Dorfs; he'd dodged arrows, caught some with his shield, batted some out of mid-air, and arrived. Where he ran past a few goblins to chase one further away. Shots in the back resulted.

I decided to turn on some of the fortress defense races, as I felt I was lacking in sieges. So far, my livestock's been making themselves seem like better candidates for the military than the dwarves. Mountain tuskoxes are cool!
as are pekyts, man. Plus all the lovely big dogs/cats/colossus elephants/giant spiders. Not to mention the drakes, oh man. My tamed forest spider hatched <3

Anyway, last summer the human diplomat got himself 2x4'd because the jackass left through the caverns. Marbled Angiswærds disagreed with his choice of route. I avenged him five minutes later, but the humans decided to siege me anyway. An imperial hammerguard on a giant eagle and a few handfuls of imperial swordsguards.

My losses in that fight (not counting those who died of wounds, might still happen); a marksdwarf charging in, two pet drakes, a stray baby drake and an animated ironbone pitchfork.

Also, my MCom is starting to scare even me.

I love this game.

Edit; the deity Usgosh has come. Information of his arrival scared me but lo and behold;

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

Oh... oh jeeze. One of my miners has transformed. Into a Dwarf descending certain mountains. Oh geeze.
I had, a few minutes before, spotted 'non-euclidean rock' in between dr. David.
Huh?

Something from masterwork I'm guessing.

It was a 'huh?' at the whole quote.

Yeah, masterwork. My bad, I opened the wrong thread. And Dr. David -> 'living stone.'

Actually come to think of it I hadn't even built a shrine yet because it was like the second summer. :P But definitely good to know, I'll have to do religion a bit earlier this time 'round. :)

Also, just now one of my miners suffocated for no reason. :o I'm getting -short- on Dwarfs, dang. I only have 10! I'm not sure I even got any in my first winter.
