Sweet stuff! :D

What is the 'migrant labors' world settings option in the launcher?

Yeah, dwarves have their own pets now. Don't panic, just get a breeding pair of moleweasels for meat and vermin hunting, some cavernkeets for eggs, maybe mastiffs or drakes if you want guard animals, and you'll be OK for now. You can learn the rest later.
Cheers.
Why mastiffs over shaggy badgerdogs?

I'm in big trubble nao. :( Something has descended the mountains of madness. And I wish they had not.

ALso, what is 'head inspiration'?

Edit; huh. Kogsak the axedwarf is down there alone among them. Has killed 8 unfinished and twelve fully grown already. Assuming unfinished don't spawn other unfinished that means I should actually be able to smash them. Better try that. Tally ho.

Edit 2; I clearly do not have sufficient dwarf-power to smash the lot in one go. Which means more and more arrive. Isn't life wonderful? Elsewhere.   I have abandoned this fortress because there was no point continuing, really. Meph, you twisted genius!

Edit 3; why does my world gen crash thrice, jebus.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

Oh... oh jeeze. One of my miners has transformed. Into a Dwarf descending certain mountains. Oh geeze.

I had, a few minutes before, spotted 'non-euclidean rock' in between dr. David.

AoE attacks?

Also a scizo-masonsguild-peasant went bananas. By the looks of, Zomslaz the mountain tuskox bull killed her. And then a war shaggy badgerdog. And then my only mountain tuskox cow. And then chased my expedition leader around the map rather than be pasturized properly. Seeing as that looked suspiciously like a loyalty cascade I rage-quit.

Apparently I made a 'smaller' map with only taiga orcs left as playable race. :o The next one after that too, and then my laptop went tits up.

Had some bad luck starting a new fort, so I abandoned that and am doing a new new one. The third migrant to arrive has a pet warpstone landmine. Riiiight, that'll be a hoot.  ::) And I think the starters from the first attempt in this world went here as migrants, but am not entirely sure. Though three miners as I had then, each knowing the other as friend is a bit much of a coincidence. And I think I recognize a name.

First migrant this fortress had, probably from the previous one, Berim, got stunned for no reason in a mine. She was taken to hospital. Got out of rest to dig, still stunned, and has now been starving and dehydrating! I just channeled floor from under her; now she's slightly wounded, starving, dehydrated and stunned. Set to 'drink' but DYING. Either bugged or someone is a sadist.  :'( According to combat log she's regained conciousness about a thousand times

Human caravan shows up. Dwarves start helping themselves to the cloth and thread on the wagons to fill the hospital as the merchants are moving towards the depot.
Had that happen too, I just forbade the human gear and we luckily avoided war. In my orc forts so far caravans have been mighty bugged, though I could usually work with it. Only this time There were five caravans at the same time, but only the Ashlanders actually put everything on depot, so when I had what I wanted off them I insulted them (:P) in the hopes I could trade with the gobbos, Frost Giants, Human Bandits or the Chaos Dwarfs, but they took far too long to leave, so I ended up only trading with those Elves and the Dwarfs. I just want to trade with the sweet giants ONCE.  :'(

Know that feeling, and for a moment I thought the Dwarfs would relieve me of monotony. A siege. They just sat around a campfire, I had twenty Orcs shoot at them, and most ran away. Only one of them died; only three of them were even near the campfire when my melee-group arrived on it.

Which means I don't have it, so he can't have it. I tried giving him a freshly new artefact armor stand, no. More crying. Oh well. I just bought FIVE golems from the Goblins (!) for my masterful welded mithril daikatana. Haw. Jesus. And gave them like 58000 profit as well; roughly the value of three more golems. Bet they're pleased, but I can't read it off them at the mo.  Yep, Stosbus is ecstatic. Alatha of the ashlander elves is also ecstatic.

also, I can't for the life of me make (dreamwalk) codices, it seems. But I can make a \M/inotaur, which IS nice.

My fortress seems to get like no threat at all. An earlier orc fortress on the same world got a Dwarf siege in its first year, but this new orc fortress is entirely dwarf-less. Jeeze, get me something to practice my mithril katana on, dammit. Or my artifact orichalcum bladed chains. Anyway, my master scribe just demanded, the little bitch, a meteoric armour stand. Sucker doesn't even need any armour and there is like no way I can get meteoric, what even IS meteorite?

And baby Hoshnzang has just been taken by a crude kobold. After getting stabbed in the hand. Only no 'kidnapper' message, and I can't look at the baby's thoughts anymore either. Riight.

Edit. Ah. Here comes the threat. Elven bladedancers with shields, krisses and jittes though wokopodoa sez jittes aren't really blades. Edit2; seems I overestimated them. Three of the sixteen escaped alive, total death due to the elves, about four war orcish dire wolves on the perimeters. And a slightly tortured aurochs bull.

One of the dworfs got fey mood and produced quite funny amulet:
It pictures an cringing ork and laughing centaur, and relates to the smashing of the ork's left buttock
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
He got his ass smashed big time, so big somebody made an artifact to remember it. Funny thing to put on the amulet I guess...

On the later years upset dwarf with mood made an amulet out of Dwarf bone ! He just took dead companion's corpse and made an artifact :O...
Is dwarven bones a thing in a game now ? I just like the idea of turning all dead dworfs to bone bolts and bring the revenge to their killers

Maybe it was a fell mood and he slew the Dwarf to use their bones. :P

Anyway, Chaos Dwarves (are they the same as the mighty D Legion?) and one of its Arcani keeps triggering ambushes by conjuring up blood and throwing it.

Tried a Kobold fort, embarked on a cave with the "brave bold" profile.
Sent the brave bold, armed with the machete of course, to kill a troglodyte. Within 2 minutes of embarking, the brave bold was dead. Then the troglodyte killed 2 shalswars and another kobold. Eventually, it was killed. Then, to help me out with my great start, a fucking NITH kills another kobold. When it comes to playing kobolds, I am the absolute worst.
What is honestly the difference between a nith and a kobold, except for their habitat.

Reminda me of when a werewolf attacked great Gunduduruk (still a badass autogen name for Orcs). I thought I was boned but sent my warriors anyway. They couldn't inflict more than bruises but the beastie got overexterted and turned... into a gnome. One stab later and we had a discombobulated and decapitated gnome corpse.
