Welp. My dad decided that our family (translation: the kids in the family) should be without Internet. Since I have an iPhone, the only thing this does is make it harder for me to post on this forum. Apparently his idea of being internetless is just having to go through the aggravation of typing on an iPhone's keyboard.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a jerky DM. I was just confused as to the usefulness of Pyro and why you would even want it. Why are con and dex only +1 now? It was my understanding that they were both +2.

Hastur: As long as you post relevant info on whatever you're taking from other books, I'll approve of stuff on a case-by-case basis. Most material should be fine, though. If your god fits your alignment, it'll most likely be fine.

When setting ability scores, you roll dice (or decide what you're spending points on, but we aren't using a point buy) and then add your racial modifiers. Your strength should be 20 instead of 16, but your modifiers are still too high. Instead of +4 str, +2 dex, +2 con, -2 cha, it should be something like +2 str, +2 con, -2 cha, and maybe even -2 int. Anything higher than a total mod of +1 is pushing it.

Also, I approved of logging weapons on fire, not the feat.

Ok, a couple problems with your character sheet: first off, your ability scores are inaccurate. You appear to be counting racial modifiers only in the final ability mod. Second, we're going with dnd armor, so you'll need to switch the japanese armor for standard armor. Final thing is that you shouldn't have bonus languages if you don't have a positive int mod. Apart from that, it looks pretty good. About flaming hammers, you could do that if, and only if, you have some flammable substance that I approve of that will stick to metal. One question, though. What does the Pyro feat actually do? Could you post its description?

Also, could you post what you had rolled for stats by putting a link to Invisiblecastle?

Finally, I'd prefer if the stat bonuses were a bit closer to an average of zero. Maybe there could be a penalty to int or something. It's fine if they average to +1 or +2, but I'd prefer them to be no higher.

Level adjustment means the level the creature is counted as. So a level 1 bugbear fighter would have to be counted as a level 2 fighter when determining exp and encounter challenge levels. To fix that, you have to nerf the creature a bit.

Cript, what do you mean when you say do people get like levels in this?

Dino, HP is determined by class. You wouldn't have to change it at all to make a LA 0 creature. And I still can't access the sheet. Are you sure it's set to public?

im thinking ogre mage but im gonna wait and see what other people do to see what they do wrong. The tiefling so far looks just like a normal human character sheet

The character sheet is pretty close to a normal one, but it would look like that whether I was a Orc, hobgoblin, Kobold, etc.

If you see a monster you want to play as, go for it! Just be sure to post stats for it as a PC race.

The idea of this campaign is to play as monsters instead of PC's. You choose a humanoid-ish monster and change it's stats until they're balanced, then play as it. You'll be forced to survive in the wilderness, fighting off adventuring parties that are after your loot, raiding towns, and (hopefully) not dieing. Rules for character creation and etiquette are below, as well as information on the game world are below.


Blurb on Gameplay:
Since you're considered monsters by 'civilized' folk, guards will have an attack-on-sight policy. You have a couple options in this matter; you could a) stay away from towns and raid small settlements, b) you could pull a ninja and sneak around doing monster-y stuff, or you could c) control a dungeon or camp for heroes to assault. Heck, you could do all three. Or you could think of other stuff to do. But be warned: Encounters won't be level-appropriate. Or more accurately, they just won't be fair for you. Think of all the level appropriate encounters you're groups have easily dispatched when you're playing as PCs. Now imagine you're the monsters you so cheerfully slaughtered.

We'll be using Hamachi to make a local network, and Maptool version b85 as the tabletop. Please download those if you don't have them and connect a bit early, because there's ALWAYS at least one connection problem when you use them.

One other oddity: I'm going to be both the DM and a PC. When I talk as the DM, I'll be impartial and very Spock-esque. When I talk as a player, I'll be normal. I'm going to play as if I had no clue what was happening. To me, playing as a character is really fun, but I have the campaign setting all thought through, and I'm wanting to have maps for everywhere. So I'll be making maps for whole towns, and I don't want to shunt the responsibility off to someone else.

I was just thinking of different twists that could be thrown into a D&D game, not necessarily economy-wise. Most of my ideas seem to be turning towards switching the roles of the players, which could be interesting. How would a group of 5 or 6 people stand up against a group of adventurers if they were, say, hobgoblins. It'd be fun to see how the encounters would play out if the players are desperately scrambling to find advantages before the fights. In the games I've played, most encounters are either near-certain death or an easy fight. With monsters as the players, the odds would be stacked way against them, since they're the on the receiving side of an easy encounter.

Economics discussions aside, are enough people interested in starting a D&D group to validate making a group? And if so, what direction would it take? It seems like trade is turning into the main focus, but that may just be because it's being argued over more.

I like the idea of a three step system. It would make all of the prices closer to what they would realistically be. We would need to price all the base materials and all the of the potential jobs we would encounter, though.

Following a different idea, what would everyone think of a campaign where we play as monsters instead of PC's? It would mostly be home-brewed stuff, so that everything would be LA 0. I like the idea of it being like DF's Kobold Camp mod. We'd have to survive near some village, but heroes and guards would be attacking us.
