Quick note about some albeit small changes to the Haast. The name was updated to match our system and, some minor changes suggest by evictedSaint were added. Which were an improved oxygen system and specifying manganese-alloy armor for the pilot's 'tub'.

Ok, so in discord their has been a debate going on about if the Haast should carry bombs. The basic argument is A: adding the bomb carry weight to the Haast is going to make it worse and B: even if it does carry bombs(like nearly every fighter did) that's too much. The thing is they are right and by right I mean technically right. It will make it worse in the same way driving with a dog in your car makes it 'worse'. Even fairly light fighter still weighed tons and the total weight of the supports need to carry a metric ton of bombs is under a fifty kilograms. On part B: this is a fighter armed with a massive super-charged fuel-injected V-12 it's not strapped for power. Sensei doesn't use specific numbers because, he's not a fool but, it's going to be making around 1,400-1,800 horse power. That is on par with many mid-war fighters that carried a metric ton of bombs. The Corsair carried two metric tons of bombs and was a great fighter as well.

On that note let's talk about torpedo bombers. Early in WW2 they where normally light bombers as early fighter couldn't carry torpedoes that were effective against ships. As the war when on people figured out that since you don't need a bomb bay for a torpedo bomber you could just mount a huge engine into a fighter and use that as a torpedo bomber. A funny thing happened here with these planes(when not loaded with torpedoes), they worked better then the more modestly engined fighters they were based off. In the end people just stopped making pure torpedo bombers and instead made these new fighters with huge engines to serve both roles. Let's skip that middle bit eh?

UFAF-F39-W 'Haast'
The hopefully not misnamed haast is the next generation of Forenia aircraft. It's powered by a brand new supercharged fuel-injected V-12 and makes use of the aerodynamic breakthroughs our car made. Servo and trim tabs on its control surfaces, from our aerodynamics research, allow it to out-manoeuvre enemy fighters even at these high speeds. It's armed with two nose mounted machine guns, four wing mounted 20mm auto cannons and, a carry weight of one metric ton of bombs or torpedoes(the mounts are also used for drop tanks; also while we hope for the carry weight no part of the fighter is to be comprised to meet it.), although the plane is optimized for air-to-air combat. The plane is designed with the pilot's safety in mind and makes use of the a manganese alloy 'bathtub' to prevent pilots from being killed in action. This armored section of the pilots cabin wraps behind, below, and in front of the pilot and is able to withstand hits from 20mm cannons. It also makes use of self-sealing fuel tanks; essentially a rubber shell around the fuel tanks that expands when the internals are exposed to gasoline. Keeping with its "next generation" status the fighter has retractable landing gear, pressurized cabin, full radio system, and oxygen masks with an improved oxygen regulator.  It also features folding wings, which allow for more of them to be stored aboard carriers.

Add three points to your first choice, two points to your second choice, and one point to your third. Highest points win I've taken everyone's 3-point choice in already, so if you voted in the old votebox just add your second and third choices, and remove your name from the list at bottom.

Hmmm will that's pretty good for for our roll in this case. During winter we should get naval detection(Sensei has stated it can't detect ships), smaller size, and possibly a better range. If we do that we will have a huge air and naval advantage for the rest of war or until they make their own. Also I'm miffed that someone dropped my vote for the vigil but, we got radar anyway so it's all good.

UFS-RDN-1938-S 'Vigil'
A update of our current radio systems designed to make them not only more effective but, also smaller. Mounting a rotating array the new Vigil can tell which direction a object came from with modest accuracy. To further improve on the system it rapidly sends out pulses at a set rate which when combined with the rough knowledge of in which direction it was sent out last the system also get an extremely rough idea of distance and altitude. The system is only modestly smaller then it's progenitor but, it's enough to mount on our carriers and make use of this new tech at sea.

We need a better radar and if we want the bloody lander we can use a revision. You know the huge-ass walrus lander that's cruiser size it's a revision so it's not impossible.

IMO, 2 metric tons of bombs+armor+4 autocannons + single engine don't mix well. Also, don't try to make such a heavy aircraft carrier based
It's more of a direct rip off the of Vought F4U Corsair which did have a really similar armament of
Quote from: Armament
    Guns:
6 × 0.50 in (12.7 mm) M2 Browning machine guns, 400 rounds per gun or
        4 × 0.79 in (20 mm) AN/M3 cannon, 231 rounds per gun
    Rockets: 8 × 5 in (12.7 cm) high velocity aircraft rockets and/or
    Bombs: 4,000 pounds (1,800 kg)
and was a naval fighter-bomber. Hmmm I will change the total bomb weight down to a single metric ton.

265
We can't make an aircraft that upsizes the cannons to 30mm?

The rule of thumb is we can mostly upscale our guns by 30% so I'm guessing we would be cap around 25mm.

266
I'm more then willing to support anyone who wants a radio upgrade however, here is an altered version of my earlier fighter if anyone is interested.

UFAF-1938-S 'Phoenix'
Hopefully not misnamed the phoenix is the next generation of Forenia aircraft. It's powered by a brand new supercharged V-12 and makes use of the aerodynamic breakthroughs our car made. It's armed with two nosed mounted machine guns, four wing mounted 20mm auto cannons and, a carry weight of one metric tons of bombs or torpedoes. The planes is designed with the pilots safety vaguely in mind and makes use of the so called 'tub'. Which is an armored section of the pilots cabin able to take the hits of 20mm autocannons and protect the pilot from nearby flak shells. To further improve it's ability to take hits it makes use of self-sealing fuel tanks. Keeping with it's new generation status the fighter has a retractable landing gear, pressurized cabin, full radio system, oxygen masks in case the cabin gets shot and, folding wings for easier carrier use.

As a side note I'm willing to support a radio upgrade, tank/apc or a new plane. I'm not going to support spending a whole design turn on a lander.

UFA-ISV-1939-S 'Lancer'
A multi role so called Infantry Support Vehicle the Lancer is designed to offer support to infantry units. It comes in two possible versions a light amphibious APC and a light turreted Tank Destroyer. The vehicle is steel framed and equipped with enough aluminum armor to stop small machine fire and protect it's crew from the fragments of nearby shells. The APC is armed with a top mounted 20mm autocannon and, is completely enclosed and is not only amphibious by default but can also be fitted with flotation platoons for naval landings. The tank destroyer is armed with a modified version of the 90mm bumblebee fitted with HEAT rounds. It's designed to take out Cannalan tanks from long range and is fitted with optics and stabilization in the turret for the task. The vehicle is tracked and powered by a front mounted V-12 turbo charged engine. The engine block offers some level of protection against anti-tank rounds all though not being hit is still the main protection of the vehicle; as a added benfit the vehicle is equipped with rear mounted hatches. Early worries with spalling messing with the engine where found pointless as if hit with anti-tank rounds the vehicle was going to knocked out anyway.

Crew:
APC: Driver, gunner/radioman. eight soldiers
TD: Driver, gunner, radioman, loader, commander.

At least it's useful in the jungle as well. Apposed to just being lander.

My main point against doubling down on the frost towers is we are nearing the point where we will start to have to use revisions/designs to protect ourselves against them. Also they already have their foot in the door at making counters to our frost magics. Not only will the musket kill their flyers real good(can't use wind on a musket ball to much effect) we can then grab flares so we can see them at night and get artillery spotting.
