Karl spits on the ground at the mention of necromancers. "Well, that's good enough reason for me. Let's purge them and the restless dead from this fortress."

Check on the horses to see if any harm came to them. Hopefully not - the shadows seemed to focus on resistance first.

"I think the dwarves had a good point. We need to rest, but we need shelter before trying to do so. If nothing else, these waves of shadow terrors would be far easier to hold back if they can only come a few at a time against a cave entrance."

((It does nothing in the sense that it causes enemies to immediately respawn. The light, on the other hand, seems to be killing them and making them stay dead. Then again, more shadows are still arriving, given the whole B24 in the corner there.))

Karl gets a wild grin on his face as the shadowy creatures expire in droves around them. "Keep it up, Nadarr! Everyone else, keep them off Nadarr unless you can pull off the same trick!"

((Now here's a question for you. What the heck happened to the sunrod I threw out there at the beginning of the fight? It should have killed the monsters that tried to come near it, and it's supposed to be good for four hours of light. It certainty didn't harm any of the group I threw it at, as B9/11/13/15 were all attacking the next round.))

((The torchlight seems to work, as the one that died when Grot moved closer with the torch didn't spawn a direct replacement. I'm sort of with USEC_OFFICER that I thought radiant damage would also do the trick, but no such luck.))

They're 'plasmic blades', which I think is a regular sword with an energy field around it. Mostly to avoid a lawsuit from Lucas Arts for using a direct lightsaber clone.

And the Princess Bride reference practically wrote itself. :)

And that wraps up this chapter. After the excitement of the last chapter with the war against Spetses and the revelation of what the Epitaphs do, along with the insanity of the Flux Sectors, this chapter is very much a breather. The characters get to relax, do some shopping, and while what they accomplish is important - finally, someone in the more advanced LMC is aware of the coming threat, it's a lot more talking and a lot less action.

Don't worry, the break is over now, and we're getting back into the action - very quickly.

Thanks to those who voted in the poll. Nova Nacio won by a landslide, but for those who voted for Kalymnos, we'll get to see that route, though it'll be part of the New Game+ content. Very shortly, for those who haven't played the game before, you'll see why we needed to decide who our friends were.

Karl activates a sunrod and throws it in the direction of B9/11/13/15. Hopefully the bright light will drive them off, or at least let us get a better look at them. After that, he draws his longsword and readies his shield.

((Oh, and do I know what, if anything, the bedroll did for Karl?))

Agree and offer to take the dawn watch. Inspect the magic bedroll to see if I can figure out what it should do before sleeping on it.

Oh, and if Bouchart gets singed by the Explosive Pyre, use Lay on Hands to heal him back up.
