One thing that made MaF unplayable after a while for me is the way resources are distributed and too much focus on what's 'historically accurate' versus what's fun for the player base. Iron mines, necessary for the best equipment (and thus best troops) are rare and mostly locked down by the old guard players, which further cements their power. It allowed them to dictate the game to new players since if you didn't cooperate they'd just steamroll your spear-wielding, leather-armored troops under their full-plate cavalry.

The universe suffers a great deal of whiplash as it advances from 3025 to 3050+. Basically, it's the result of the writers shifting from a 'in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only Mad Max style FrakenMechs left because everything has been bombed to shit, and your 'Mechs are barely functional patched together 200+ year old hulks fighting over the last scraps of fallen empires' to a noble bright 'look, thousands of new 'Mechs and dozens of new designs walking off the lines within five years, and everything is getting better if it wasn't for those Clanner scum coming to take over!'

I'm guessing he might have hit the regenerate minerals SM button? I believe if you do so that it no longer pays attention to the special rules for mineral generation for Earth, so its quite possible to get limited or no deposits on Earth of some mineral types.

Well, I wouldn't expect any new guides until the C# version is released, as the full overhaul of the UI and a lot of the mechanics will mean full new guides will be needed anyway.

The good news is that Steve is (slowly) playing his first test campaign on the new version.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Stellaris.

Start as a lowly Corvette captain, gather a fleet together and found an intergalactic empire. As your empire grows, switch to bigger hulls and better equipment. Satisfy artisan demands to gain tech upgrades. Fend off marauding fleets of troll raiders, while a lurking menace grows in strength before becoming unleashed as an end-game threat.

It honestly sort of works together decently.

I want to stop getting emails =/ I want to start playing again.

I’ll take a look when I get to work and see if I can help with that.

*edit* OK, it looks like if you haven't played for a while, your subscription is set to 'Locked'. If you go to 'Change subscription level' -> You can set it to 'Casual', which allows 4 characters active. At that point, your characters should become unlocked and you can retire them.

You can also go to Profile -> Edit Settings, and set your e-mail notifications off.

*2nd edit*

A while ago, fighting abandoned nobles was a good way to slowly pick up experience for troops in ways that wouldn't end up with half of them dead. I'm not sure if that's still the case - boredom is another good reason.

Not to mention, they were presenting a shitty pay to win dime a dozen mobile game* to a room full of hardcore PC fans who were expecting a new PC game.

*Maybe they'll come with something inventive, but come on, the iTunes store is already flooded with a million Diablo clones. A real Diablo game will just sink into that sea without a trace.

As Umiman said, adapting enemies promotes strategies to game the system in return. Use lasers for three missions so now everything has laser reflective carapaces? Time to break out the ballistic rifles for a few missions so your advanced laser rifles are worth a damn again.

... The game is all about you. All the dialogue is your character’s actions. The kingdom is your creation. How, exactly, are you a ‘side character’ in all of this?

My complaint is that I wish you could use the mercenary companions without giving up all the companion interactions. The party becomes really lifeless if you take too many mercenaries.

If you like old-school, any/all of the Harvest Moon series might be up your alley. Peacefully build up your farm from a half-broken down ruin to the heights of prosperity while developing a relationship.

You could try setting kingdom management to auto? Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you - you shouldn't have run off all of the companions, even if you don't ever take them anywhere.

Pathfinder doesn't have multiclass XP penalties. You won't get your favored class bonus (locked to +1HP) unless you're leveling the class with the most levels in your build, but that's it.

The Arcane Trickster prestige class is fairly well locked down by Octavia. 1 Rogue / 9 Wizard / 10 Arcane Trickster is ideal, and only takes one feat (Accomplished Sneak Attacker) to avoid having to put any more rogue levels in.

I think an assault lance should be organized, as it increases the chances of meeting (and salvaging) yet more assault mechs under the system that rolls for enemy types.
