To be honest I don't think people really care to much about having such overly realistic values. The minute change in density of wood between fresh cut and dried would probably be unnoticeable never mind the fact it would require the game not only to keep checking and referencing different values for different stages of the drying process. I mean as if the game doesn't run slow enough already and you're complaining toady didn't sacrifice even more FPS for such a minute thing? Arguing for declared values is one thing, arguing for a density overhaul and material based states is quite another.

Try using hatch covers linked to a lever instead of a retracting bridge

Just get an agile character with some throwing skill. Get one group of zombies to follow you, pelt them with stones, if they have necro keep kiting them and pelt him. When theyre all dead pick up their corpses and dump them some where out of the way a bit. Its a slow method but it works and means you dont have to become a vampire

I havent played any of the newer clothes rotting version but don't you give your military leather cloaks? :o I usually give them a good few as standard and surely this should provide upper body covering needed to get rid of the bad thought.

I'd say compartmentalizing is going to become more popular with the introduction of minecarts. You can keep closed systems resupplied easily with minecarts and you could easily keep dwarves isolated for their entire lives without much micromanagement. I do like the idea of giving the dwarves minimal excuses to trek across the map to get supplies or to sleep though and im definetly gonna try one of these forts next release

You could just as easily port it to android yourself. I've tried doing this before on my local network and a tablet pc. Although as you said the input is instant the actually display is laggy as shit and terribly tempermental. I was using a different streaming app but im sure its all the same. An actual port of DF to android would be pretty fucking cool though

Marriage = love. Love = babies.

I have a problem with your logic, i love ice cream but i am neither married to it nor have procreated with it.
Similarly I have married a harlot and have no intention or loving or reproducing with such a beast

I think you should defiinitely herd them into a moat as siege bait. Or you could build a hive-like structure completely encased away from the rest of your fort below ground and put them all into it, occasionally dropping fresh migrant sacrifices to the little scamps.

I dont know if this is what you mean. But i was adventuring through a dungeon recently and it was one of those rooms with a one tile wide scaffold above an open hole into a bigger room below. Anyway a pikeman below somehow managed to cause my adventure to dodge to his death. I thought it was impossible for creatures to attack another creature with melee upwards on a non-stair/ramp tile.

« on: April 09, 2012, 02:41:03 pm »
I've only ever had animal men a few times strangely. Last time I had batpeople who had turned friendly thanks to killing FB's. I trapped them all then realised them into a giant marble temple filled with statues of silver and magma fountains encased behind clear glass. Eventually they died from infection of previous injuries but i like to think they enjoyed their reward for defending the fort.

I dont know i'm in the same boat as you OP. Most foreign mood weapons I get are blowguns or bows. Coincidentally though most of my moods for clothing tend to be foreign. Only once have I had any other foreign weapon and that was a steel scimitar i think back in 31.25

Armor or weapon shops are rarely ever stocked in the current version. And when they do they always seem to be chock full of no quality or -quality- items. You'd have better luck raiding human castles/forts store rooms or visiting an old fort of your own for equipment.
