Yeah, the skill should probably be changed into something more generic like ranged or something... I always confused it with my bowman-skill when I first started playing.

Yeah I'd much rather have classy Dwarves. Make magma not pisspots.

This is pretty much the reason we're unlikely to see sewage in Fortress mode. People get downright fetishistic about it.

Heh, yeah, like how the Genesis mod added dongs and now every genesis player ever is running around with fourteen of them stuck between their teeth at any given time.

On the note of sieges having sponges riding elves, is it possible for worldgen to create an unkillable Sponge forgotten beast made of magma that had a web shooting ability which makes your entire military vomit blood?

I believe forgotten beasts draw from their own abstract list of creatures... dinosaurs and asses and such... probably not sponges, sadly.

Elfs:

KILL_ANIMAL:ONLY_IF_SELF_DEFENSE

:P

Hey, everyone knows corals just want to kill everyone all the time... it's the only way to be sure.

Corals are animals, though, us elf folk don't care about them. :P

How about you go and pet them and tame them then?Oh wait, you elven bastards cant even cross a pond without drowning.

You don't want to encourage that sort of thing... before you know it you'll have giant war sponges riding elves into battle.

Contracted vampirism, killed a fuckton of dudes, found a tomb, stopped by and had a chat about the old days, didn't find any loot I liked, left.

Mummy kept begging me to take him with me on my glorious adventures though... maybe I will, just to see if the townsfolk react at all. Playing as a night creature in Dwarf Fortress is reasonably epic. :D

My wife has designated our entire attic a stockpile that accepts anything. ANYTHING.

Does that include food, corpses and refuse, cause personally I never let that stuff into my omnipile. :P

Yeah, I just let migrants hang around in the legendary dining hall doing whatever until I need more Dwarves for something, then I assign jobs as required. Don't get what's with all the melodrama.

My old militia commander got 'doesn't care about anything' on the first year after killing a few dangerous animals (giraffes) and butchering animals in general on her off time... not sure if this is common or she was just overly sensitive.

Isn't Toady intending to add that stuff? Seems like something that would/should be added with the haunts/stalker night creatures. Been a long time since I heard about that stuff though.

That's a good way to get cursed.  Mummys know you are present if you trigger a trap/anything sees you in the tomb, or get too close to their sarcophogus.  Just avoid them if you can or don't feel up to it.  I typically stay out of tombs.

Indeed, which is why I'm seeking the wisdom of the forum on the matter. :D

Edit:  Undead mummy ignores undead adventurer.  OPPOSED_TO_LIFE is in effect.

1: Become a Necromancer.

2: Enter the tomb and talk with the mummy while eating pastries. He will tell you interesting historical facts.

3:Invite him to come with you.

4:Decapite him with one treacherus stroke.

Hah, I didn't even think of that. Now I just want a mummy BFF, though. :P

the first thing to do is to move all there corpses away, and burn them.
then attack the mummie.

Might try this too... won't it piss him off if you start dicking around with his dead peasants though? Don't want to get cursed or anything.

So, I've decided to try my hand at adventure mode again, between forts, and I just saw a tomb and decided what I want to do is kill a mummy and take all his stuff.

Now, I've accidentally wandered into these things before gotten horribly murdered, so I need some advice on how to proceed. They only aggro when you steal their stuff and/or mess with their coffin, right? Would sneaking up to them and stabbing them in the face as they wake up be viable? Thoughts?

Tried this? http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Main_Page

It should help, especially if you can find a tutorial to help you through the first few stages.
