I personally use mass pitting arenas to drop loads of unarmed gobbos and trolls versus my military. It trains them up pretty fast.

Has soundsense been recommended? It basically adds sound to DF so stuff like announcements get audio alerts.

So my fortress is currently under siege by two squadrons of gobbos on flying mounts supporting a squad of trolls. Literally EVERY goblin is on a flying mount. Has anyone had this happen to them before?

Just got an artifact gold ring. Tossed it into the volcano along with a goblin to replicate LOTR.

Its funny because artifacts dont melt :v

Got my first true siege I think I might capture them all with my trap hallway and those that get through will probably be slaughtered by my weapons traps. The rest can be swept away by my fledgling military.

Start making socks and shoes, If I remember correctly if the shoes/socks of a dwarf wear off then they can pick up floor based FB syndromes.
