DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Dwarves refusing to grab the goods.
« on: June 21, 2016, 11:35:31 pm »
I didn't have the refuse orders set, but it didn't change anything. Stockpiles are not set to anything, so that's not the issue. They just don't wanna grab 'em.

Oddly enough, a dwarf went into a fey mood and nabbed something from the merchant stock, though. But that's about it.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Dwarves refusing to grab the goods.
« on: June 21, 2016, 12:20:50 pm »
So I had a merchant die or drop some goods or something near the edge of my map, including some lovely things like steel bars and the like. However, my dwarves refuse to go get these items. They are not forbidden, I had stockpiles set aside, they just don't want to grab the goods. They'll take other things from outside, so that's not forbidden.

Any ideas, or are these things just forever out of reach? I am getting mad watching keas steal it all.

If I can get 4-6 people who have never played Paranoia before and are willing to dedicate themselves to semi-regular posting, I might be up for throwing something together on the board.

Edit:  Knowing the rules disqualifies you and you will be punished severely.  Please reply with something a bit more coherent than "ooh me" if you wish to sign up!  Eloquence is mandatory!

I would like to volunteer to help out friend computer for the good of the complex, and not to increase my supply of bouncy bubble beverage.

While Capntastic is correct on volcanoes being pretty much instadeath for a fortress, there are other geological effects that may be useful. Things like mudpots and geysers and such.

Mind, they kinda lack the everybody gonna die disaster movie charm, but a geyser manifesting itself in the middle of your shit is pretty amusing to me.

Having seen this sort of thing a couple times, I've grown used to Toady going into seclusion and working away at the next big thing. Don't worry too much, it will come through.

And don't faesh yourself over the man having his weekends to himself. They let him get other ideas he's had creep up upon his psyche run free, so that they don't distract from dwarfing it up. And at the same time, giving him a break from dwarfing it up, which is important to avoid burning out on a project.

So in short, what pretty much everyone said.

<JT> We could also get dwarves scooping up blood in buckets for use in blood puddings and stuff.
<fwoop> omg
<fwoop> pudding resevoirs!
<thepuska>  :D
<fwoop> "You've struck custard!"
<fwoop> you could mod in "Good" areas to be some sort of lollypop land
<fwoop> where all the stones and trees are edible
<CitizenofErl> *Fwoop: I want a mod to do that.*
<fwoop> and you can hunt vicious muffin men
<thepuska> eat them raw
<CitizenofErl> *Because goddamn if I don't want to get some Candyland action on in DF*

Hey, PNB, a question. Do you have mention anything other than the fact you Gamesharked dragons in place of dwarves anymore? I'm sorry to be rude, but that seems to make up most of your posts these days.

I've taken to declaring my dwarves are Zoroastrians, and deal with their dead by exposure.

Sadly, I cannout yet construct proper towers for this to be done with.

I think I am going to shut off corpse hauling for all but one guy, whose job is only to haul corpses.

This thread is the best thread.

Someone should take it upon themselves to define the technical terms, though, so us thickies don't have to run to the dictionary every couple of minutes.

You know, I do find chickens are pretty cute; raised a flock once, when I was younger. And Mangroves are pretty awesome.

DID YOU REMEMBER THE CAMEL, RONIN? THAT IS IMPORTANT!

Must start with a camel and a Pig, since you got them. (Edit: Hump count unimportant)

Edit Edit: Must have a room at least three z levels above the ground. Made of Microcline if available.
