Sure is. Thank you very much. I didn't think there was a page still around that had the mods.

Other Games / WW1 Medic Mod
« on: January 14, 2011, 12:46:50 pm »
I remember discovering WW1 medic years ago, and consequently finding out about DF because of it. I remember there used to be a little web page that had a few mods for it. None of them changed the actual gameplay much, but I remember one of them made the game a little bit more functional. I believe you could change the terrain to either dirt, snow, or grass, and it had an option to fullscreen the game without having to change your monitor's resolution. Does anyone happen to have this mod that are willing to share?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Unretired Hero = No Reputation?

Just a quick update on this topic. I may be wrong, but it appears that once a hero becomes extremely famous, it's easy to get your reputation back. Haven't done any real research on this yet, but I retired my hero, unretired him, and the most companions he can have is 2. I then killed like 2 goblin leaders, and 1 human bandit leader, and suddenly everyone remembers who he is, and they're stunned to see him again.
Almost like "Oh, -that- guy? Yeah he's cool."

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: No Dwarf, Elf, or Goblin settlements?

Great information, I'll definitely be playing around with the numbers. Is there a way to make the goblins prefer evil land? I'm going to start trying to cook up a very evil world overrun with goblins and perhaps a custom civ or two, with a few sparse patches of resistance (dwarves, elves, humans).

Just a quick note, be sure to get your adventurer fully suited in armor, and if possible a good shield. I can't tell you how many times armor has saved me from a random lung/heart/brain hit. Especially those pesky arrows.

Thanks a lot Vipre, I'm going to give that a try after I'm done with my current adventurer. I'm assuming you need to change the values and then regenerate a new world, as dwarf/elf/gob cities aren't just going to instantly spring up?

1,Can i travel to another land ?

2, when i use knives or kryses or sabres , It only affect armor user skill ,the rest remains the same , Is that a Bug ?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

3,Does a MOUSE have other functions in game except zoom-in/out the graphic ?

what those " puzzlebox " for ? Seems it can only be sold to a merchant .
1. What do you mean by another land? You can travel anywhere in your world that you can get to. If you mean can you travel to other people's worlds with your adventurer, then yes it's possible, but they have to give you a copy of their save.

3. The mouse doesn't have too many uses in adventure mode. You can turn the sound up and down by clicking on different levels. It can be used to mark things for construction and dumping and the like in fortress mode.

And yes, puzzleboxes are trade goods. It's a type of toy, I believe. They have no use but to trade.

That's a bummer that dark towers are gone. Until they're re-implemented, I'll deeply cherish my memories of slaughtering dozens of goblins. :(

I've noticed that since the update, whenever I go to a Dark Tower to kill play with the goblins, I can go to the exact spot that the HUD directs me to, but I can never find a tower or any goblins. Are they bugged?

Edit: Upon skimming up the thread a little bit, it seems quite a few people are having similar problems with the compass.

After all I did for the Kingdoms of Peace, they forget about me the moment I decide to take a break!

So I've brought my scimitar thrower out of retirement for the second time. Last time I retired him, he was a legendary hero all around the world, and could lead 20something companions. After retiring him I played through 2 forts. I decided to bring him back out of retirement for another round of goblin/bandit/megabeast slaying after about 6 years game time, and he's back down to 2 companions max, and people aren't "dumbstruck" when they see him anymore. Anyone know the cause?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Because of Dwarf Fortress...

Because of Dwarf Fortress, the 'learning curve' of most other games seem to be a collection of gentle slopes at the base of the harsh, unforgiving volcanic cliffs of DF.
This struck me as extremely true. If you can get the hang of DF, you can do anything. Even SCIENCE!!!
... Also, because of DF, I often stare at my cat and wonder what *cat meat roast* would taste like.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Safe Outdoor Farms?
« on: January 11, 2011, 12:00:34 am »
So I just started a new fort, and it's an excellent spot. I then had an idea, though I'm sure this has been thought of already, for walled-in outdoor farms that are connected to the fort via an underground tunnel. This makes them safe from pretty much anything, if I'm not mistaken. But my question is, can goblin archers shoot arrows down into the farming complex if they're on a higher z-level? If so, would building a glass ceiling over the top of the farming complexes keep arrows out?

I actually did melt away all of my fat. I'm pretty sure I'll still catch on fire if I try to pick the flames up again, but I don't expect throwing them straight from my backpack will ignite me.

After killing a Savanna Titan made of fire, and watching several companions melt into puddles, my swordthrower is currently on his way to a dragon's lair. Apparently the dragon has killed the lady's brother and cousin. I'm packing a rather unusual weapon, though. Fire leftover from the titan I had killed previously. I was looking around the temple after killing the thing, and saw 2 units of "________'s flame", and was like "Can I throw fireballs?" The answer is yes, but I caught on fire when I picked them up. I survived being a human torch, and I'm eager to see if the dragon will catch on fire and melt if I nail it with fireballs.
