Let's try this again.
___
The domain of forever. I always thought the world had a nice name, but never really thought of exploring until now. But one day, it turned out I was carving the bones of the king's pet cat who had been mutilated by an ambush...So now I have to go. I chose this place on the map, the Doomed Hill. Well it didn't look much like a hill to me (although I'm not great with geography), so I'm guessing the other half of the name is a lie too. Apparently it's haunted, but there aren't really any reports of that. Then again, no reports of anything from the area. Oh well.

After a little bit of finding some people, we've got a few hunters, miner, carpenter, and negotiator. Well, he convinced me to give him the front seat, so he must be worth something.
So we got to the site, all good. Nice place, although I think I saw a few carp in the river. Oh well, just stay away. So first things first, I say we build a little wall around our pla-
Likot, the miner, interrupts, "Um, katana? We don't have anything. Just two picks, an axe, and those snacks we brought for the journey. Oh, and we seem to have an anvil, but none of us can actually use it."
(2 barrels of fish, and 4 barrels of rum)
Well likot, thank you for telling me. Hey you two, farmer people, go gather plants. Meanwhile, I spotted a sea lamprey fighting... a harpy? What's that? Whatever it is, looks like the sea lamprey is winning. And the hunters seem to have nothing to hunt. I hope that changes, soon.
Those harpies keep interrupting our work. Stupid hunters, why won't you hunt them? At least you shoot at them... Well, I've got nothing to do, might as well pick up a pick for now and help out our lone miner.

Ah, it's good to be underground. Wait what. Why can't we dig here. Oh great, an aquifer, I suppose that's why they were so willing to let me live here, there's no stone! Well, I suppose we must live in the dirt and build with wood for now. Outdoor plots being built for our aboveground farms. At least we have river spirits and strawberry wine to look forward to. If only the "farmers" could actually find some plants.
(I think there's a pattern with my fortresses and a lack of stone first year >_>)

I've decided to slaughter the poor dog that got hurt during the harpy attack. I also get some bones to use

Since I'm the only one skilled in the military (and not stuck lounging around due to lack of ammunition), I am making myself military commander (adequate swordsdwarf). Sadly, the dog gave no bones. At least it didn't have to lie there waiting for death. Well, hopefully the yaks give a little more. We got them free anyway.
