DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Using special abilities in arena/adventure mode

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, however I'm having trouble finding it. My question is this: Is the player able to control special abilities in adventurer or arena mode? I mean abilities like dragon fire-breath.

DF Gameplay Questions / 'Create New World' causes laptop freeze

I apologise if this is in the wrong place, I'm not sure where else to post it.

My friend has been trying to play DF for a few weeks now, but to no avail. He starts to create a world and then his computer freezes entirely and he has to restart. He has let it sit for up to an hour and a half to see, and nothing happened. These are his basic specs. If more will help, let me know. I appreciate any help you guys can offer, even if it's only telling me I'm in the wrong sub-forum.
