skill at fighting gets you through the caverns to the treasure. Skill at map making gets you back home

If you just consistently sleep outside, isnt there an unlimited supply of bandits etc?

true that in warfare archers were usually used for mass barrages, but the archer/marksdwarf we see here is more like a hunter, picking out an individual target and taking careful aim

And i think i might just try for a lasher hero next time, see if it really works so well, i just know the soldier lashers tend to die fast and messily

I think that is what i miss most, some "builds" and ideal teams and such for adventurer mode. The things new adventurers would like to know

i cant find anything like this for advice in the wiki, or any sticky around here, but can people post a bit of a reference guide to "how to" play certain weapon wielders

wrestlers seem to love grabbing a weapon and twisting it away, then breaking arms legs and more?

spear/pikemen try to hit a vital organ early on

axes chop chop chop. Great for chopping things, but bad for anything else. Extremely slow vs enemies with lots of fat or multiple appendages

mace/hammer break bones. Its usually easier than cutting a limb off, and creates less mess. no chance to hit a major artery tho

swords can reliably chop off appendages and stab internal organs, so far my favorite. Humanoids tend to be left handed for some reason

archer/crossbow/throwing is limited by not being able to aim for a specific target. One of the ways old arbelaters went about disabling enemies was shooting ... any appendages off. arms, legs, heads. they had that effect. While arrows arnt nearly as effective, you should be able to go for headshots. My swordsman can do headswipes
another problem, these units should try to keep some distance, even in an ambush. In the middle of a melee they quickly get cheesed (like creamed, but it goes on for longer, yes this is a quote)
Its good to be one but one of the worst henchmen, in my opinion

so i had wrestler, spear, pike, mace, hammer, bow, crossbow, swork and axe.

Lashers... i dont know what to think. They tend to die easily in my games so far so i havnt seen them in action much

did i miss anything? whats best for player in general consensus (top 3?) and whats best for followers (top 3)

btw, is it normal that my pike/spear men go after non offensive creatures while the others lounge about till they return. They are always the ones i find wandering away from the group

Also, didnt dragons have a size dependent on age? i read it in the wiki i think. That would mean its easy to find bigger, meatier creatures than a dragon if it was a relatively young one

I wont start a new thread either :p

When I'm trading stuff, do items that i am wearing get added to the list to? I dont want accidentally sell all my softer clothes. I wont accidentally sell my best ones, i know those

edit: i figured it out. all my selable stuff will list under my backpack or whatever container it is in

new question, do traders restock their shops? and get new money? I have lots to sell, but the merchants are running out of cash in this small town

also, while i started out as demi god as adviced for new players since this game is very lethal, and i killed all the night creatures and bandits as per quests, am i ever ready to take on a titan? what would be needed for that, except a great deal of luck?

does the thing with holding many shields still work?

Always take archers out first, my awesome dragon slayer found that out the hard way.

oh, spinal tissue will return to blue given enough travel time, but it will still cripple them.

yeah, i figured out to kill archers first, since my goons can handle themself fine but not when being shot at, and i know some things will turn blue etc given time, however, since he destroyed both my lungs and disabled my legs, I dont think I had much time. And this was in 1 swing!

I'm just starting out so i dont think my tales will be of epic proportions yet.

I had just singlehandedly killed an archer bandit, swordsman bandit, maceman bandit and a wrestler bandit, mostly by cutting of their weapon hand quite early on. As I charge the last hench (the archer was the chief) he ducks, swings and severs my spine, bashes in all my ribs and carves out my lungs. Talk about a surprise

one time i ran out of seeds because the goons werent eating those things enough, leaving me with the choice of a lot of brewing or just waiting for them to occasionally eat one

when you log in next, destroy your hearth fire

after that you can spawn in random wilderness

also, drop dead from exhaustion? thats unlikely. there are some bars to consider

1: stamina(blue): recharches itself, aided by 1: a chair, and 2: water or tea

2: hunger(red, yellow, green): fixed by eating things. If you just started, dont be picky, just cook meat before you eat it. invest your points in foraging and 6 exploration first to find sme roots

3: travel weariness: you can always travel to your hearth fire, unless you want to travel anywhere but there, it costs TW. going there cost TW (travel weariness) too, but you can still do it when the bar is full. to lower the bar, drink wine, or smoke tobacco, or drink beer

ok, if you are new, you can add me too. open your kin window and type SayWhat in your "add kin by hearth secret"

i'm open for almost any questions
