DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Double Build
« on: May 07, 2011, 02:07:03 pm »
Nope. You can put one on the Z-level above or below it, but not directly on top of it.

Why do you want to know? We might be able to give you an alternative solution to your problem.

DF Suggestions / Re: What about a good smoke ?

I'm not sure if "ambivalent" is the right word. By now, I think they mostly clear-cut regions because FUCK ELVES.

And because they need beds and barrels and shit, 'course.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Silver in weapon traps

Go for spiked balls. As I recall, they have penetration which is influenced by weight, and silver is heavy shit.

...damn, son. Didn't even REMEMBER that post.

Simple as that, you know. Made at a craftsdwarf's or metalsmith's workshop (bone, stone, horn, variety-of-metals), like little beads and trinkets shaped like skulls, axes, broad crosses, any of those symbols we all know and like so well. One bar/stone/pile of bones should make quite a lot of them because they're so small (like 30 of them? 50?).

They'd give nobles (who could afford more of them, once the economy is back in) a more royal bearing (The king's beard is decorated with golden skulls!), and, you know, dwarves are craftsmen and their beards are important to them, so, yeah. I guess women would put them in their hair, but if a man does it, that's weird ("What are ye?! A feckin' elf, Urist?!"), because he's got a BEARD, damn it.

Anyway, my other thing. Further customization of the millitary. Maybe you could tell them to all shave their heads and grow their beards out as long as they'll go, or dye their hair a certain colour, or put a certain amount of a certain kind of ornament in their beard (or put an amount of rings/amulets made from a specific material, you know, all that). Just to promote uniformity.

Im trying to create a well over a lake full of booze will this work?
Booze is not registered as a liquid, it's technically a contaminant, like sand and mud and blood.  If you drop it on the ground, it will sit in a puddle and get on people's feet, but won't register as 1/7 Booze.  The eternal to-do list has custom liquids on it, which would allow the glorious BoozeFall to finally be made, and allow you to literally flood the map with blood.  Or maple syrup.  Or Liquid Rainbow.

...dump syrup into a big pit until it's 3/7 and station the most attractive female millitia dwarves in your fortress there...then schedule a wrestling demonstration...

...what was I saying again?

564
Yeah, I felt disappointed too...It was a three-z-level pit, and I figured it'd fill up, and then a geyser of water would erupt and knock the mayor out of is xpig tail shoesx.

565
I don't know how to take one. Anyway, update. He just put it in the pond...it was filled up to 2/7.

This seems like an inefficient and wasteful way to carry water...

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / ...15610 units of water in ONE BUCKET?
« on: May 02, 2011, 04:02:41 pm »
I'm not kidding. I have a pond that needs filling, and the mayor is going to fill it up.

She has a bucket of water, the contents of which are listed as follows:

water [9]
water

Okay, from that point, I could be like "Well, 10 units is the biggest amount of water a bucket can fit, after all..."

And under that it says "water [15610]"

Uh...what? Yeah. The mayor is moving slow as fuck and the bucket apparently weighs 28742 Urists.

That's gonna make a HELL of a splash.

Poults are so small they will only drop skulls on death, so be sure to put craftsdwarf's workshops close to your birdfall.

On the other hand, this is excellent for training bone carvers and having loads of free junk (namely, poult totems) to sell to the caravan.
Wish you could make gear from skulls specifically. Elf skull helms, pauldrons, and all that stuff.

Oh, fuck yeah.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Paralympic Goblins?
« on: April 30, 2011, 04:38:40 pm »
Goblins are quite durable, it seems. I've had a goblin lose lung and a liver in cave-in and get quite a lot of other wounds, but after he got up from being unconscious he just continued his trip, like nothing happened.
"FUCK YOU LIVER I WILL RAPE YOUR CHILDREN IF YOU STOP WORKING! SAME GOES TO YOU, DOUCHEBAG McLUNG!"

Dwarf Fortress:
Teaching you to be a douche to your internal organs.

This is what I do when I work out. "Fuck you, left knee! Stop whining! This isn't a fucking restort, THIS IS A FIVE-MILE BIKE RIDE ALONG THE CANALS, YOU SON OF A WHORE!"

Or you could divert the poults to a number of other pastures.

Also, I suggest peafowl instead of turkeys, I hear they grow up faster.

Man, that looks awesome. I'd live in that shit and throw fucking parties all the time.

Would it be undorfy to substitute clear/crystal glass for the adamantine, though? I don't like wasting candy (when I even get far enough to find some...) on frivolities.
