DF Gameplay Questions / No One Wants To Woodcut
« on: October 09, 2012, 12:00:27 pm »
I have 2 proficient woodcutters, 2 copper chopping axes, and no logs. I've designated the logs to be cut, the axes aren't forbidden, the woodcutting labor is assigned, the woodcutters have no job. I activated everyone as a woodcutter then and still no one wants to chop wood. Help?

« on: September 09, 2012, 05:56:43 pm »
I have some barrels of blood that I would like to make a stockpile for. I cannot find blood as an option in the custom stockpile settings. Where would it be found?

DF Gameplay Questions / Eternal rest (But not dead.)
« on: August 08, 2012, 05:50:11 pm »
I have a dwarf who was injured in a battle with a thief. I didn't notice him immediately but, found him later in his room getting water and food from friendly dwarves. I quickly made a hospital and removed his bed out from under him so he could be moved. Now he is lying on the floor resting, no one is going to pick him up. He's also dehydrated but, since he doesn't wake up, won't move for his own drink. His status also doesn't say anything but dehydrated anymore. So, he must not be as injured as he was. This has the downside of meaning no one will bring him water or take him to the hospital. So, I've got an unconscious thirsty dwarf that no one will help. Ideas?

DF Modding / Question about ITEMCORPSE
« on: March 21, 2012, 10:33:07 pm »
This is going to sound silly. I have no clue how to mod anything in Dwarf Fortress. However, I am in a position where I would like to make turkeys drop yarn cloth when butchered. Or, if they can't drop cloth, normal yarn would be very acceptable. I am just not sure how to add this in. Will I need to generate a new world after adding? Thanks for the help.

DF Community Games & Stories / Gladiator's Arena
« on: June 13, 2011, 03:43:18 am »
I enjoyed the concept of the Arena Battles thread opened by another user on the forum. Since that user is incapacitated for the time being, I decided to start my own.

My idea is a bit more involved and if you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask in the thread or via PM. Thanks!

The Plan:
For the first rounds players will be pitted against eachother. Winners will be given an amount of AG (arena gold) which will allow them to purchase new skill points and equipment. The loser will not lose anything and, if they killed anyone before they died, they will be given a small amount of AG. If a player cannot make a kill after a few battles, I will give the chance to start a new character. If someone starts a new player and there are no other new players to battle they will be pitted against an NPC or a beast. Later battles will involve battles against different beasts, group battles, team versus team battles, etc. Enjoy!
Battles will be updated at least once a week, probably on a Monday. Everyone starts with 500 AG.

AG may be used in the shop or to purchase skill points. The 500 AG you start with will be used to purchase your initial gear and skills.

You may play as a human, kobold, elf, goblin, or dwarf.

Please post the filled out character sheet to begin!

DF Gameplay Questions / Dwarves do not complete jobs
« on: January 23, 2011, 08:32:23 am »
I am at a loss. Every time I start a new world to start fresh the dwarves are not very useful. I do not do anything different when I start a world besides add two cats to the group. I don't change anything else. Yet, without fail, when I start designating digging/tree cutting/plant gathering tasks, nothing gets done. They stand idle by the cart. I even selected things for them to do that were right next to them (making sure to avoid obstacles) and still nothing. A couple of times when I restarted I could get them to work. But, only two would work at a time, no matter their profession. I could have two woodcutters working but, no one else would work until one of the woodcutters stopped. And then when one stopped I'd have one woodcutter and, for example, one miner. Everyone else just waited their turn to be one of the two working. I am new, extremely new, but I think I have a pretty good basic understanding of how the game works. Please help or tell me what I need to do to get help.

And, please read the paragraph completely. I see a lot of people "helping" by jumping to conclusions that were answered in the paragraph. Thank you.
