Haha, shit man, that is one of the most hardcore drawings to ever grace this thread, or even the entire goddamn internet. A demon doing a dual-strangle on two snow lions while eating the head of one of them? THAT IS HARD TO SURPASS.

... Nope, i don't have a comic at the moment.

Or, you could limit which seasons in which they're grown. I've found it useful in keeping back the raging tsunami of purple mushrooms.

It's so they can more easily make kebabs. The dwarven crossbow is a labour-saving device FUGGIN GATLING CANNON THAT BEGS TO BE FIRED.
There is some meat on your theory, but this one gets the point across more clearly. :P
Also, engravers.

The secret is out! Their beards shape the engravings! (good luck making your beard look like a roc striking down an elf)

Well shit, now i actually know how to imagine dorfbolds. It all makes sense! All other kobolds are still seen as little lizardmen, though. D&D has poisoned my mind irreversibly.

Also, you know how us humans tend to make hunting as painless as possible for the killed animals?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dorfs strongly disagree with that notion. For all intents and purposes, THEY DO HAVE A GATLING CROSSBOW. And they really like to use it. I'm sure we can all agree to this after seeing a hunter try to kill his prey. The big question is, how the hell would they react to getting an actual porcupine for dinner?

Haha, that's pretty cool! I bet he snapped the arm with his beard. Only a dorfs beard would be strong enough to break an orcs arm.

Also, i once had a giant caught in a cage trap. Not satisfied with that fate, i staged a battle between it and my singular axe dorf. The dorf absolutely dominated the giant, actually knocking it unconscious with a mighty axe strike to the head. This was soon followed by approximately 30 more strikes, which probably bled it to death, since the room was utterly flooded with blood when the giant died. I'm hoping that blood will become an actual liquid at some point, so we can DROWN ENEMIES WITH THE BLOOD OF THEIR OWN FRIENDS. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD.

That was...

* Shook puts on sunglasses

Very gneiss.

Also, i have a hard time imagining the dorfs actually saying anything, so in my head, the conversations are like:

Urist 1: :D
Urist 2: :D
Urist 1: :D?
Urist 2: :D!
Urist 1: :D!!

On a more vocal note though:

Urist McSavvy: Oh man we're under siege by goblins!
Urist McDwerp: We are?
Urist McSavvy: Yeah, didn't you hear the cage trap triggering?
Urist McDwerp: OH MAN THERE IS A CAGE TRAP WITH A GOBLIN IN IT I'D BETTER GO RETRIEVE IT RIGHT NOW
Urist McSavvy: Don't do it man!
Urist McDwerp: SORRY I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF THAT CAGED GOBLIN THAT I AM ABOUT TO RETRIEVE
Goblin LeNotinacage: Oi, there's a dorf! Get him!
Urist McDwerp: NOPE

I wonder what drives them to plough into a group of gobs for a sock. Or a cage.

Goodness me, i think the epic gauge just got blown! Most excellent. :D
Also, dwarven butchery.

Not like those pansy-ass humans who use SHARP KNIVES. NOBODY NEEDS KNIVES WHEN YOU HAVE TEETH TO RIP OFF FLESH.

I bet they're totally looking for DEMONIC TUNDRA TREANTS to cut the fuck down. Then again, treants don't exist. Yet.
And now, my previous comic has been reworked to poke fun at anime.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I think i just lost a piece of my soul. ::) (huge respect to the japanese mangakas but so help me god I WILL NEVER DRAW LIKE THAT AGAIN because it looks ridiculously stupid)
Now to win my piece of soul back.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I feel better already! (also some time later i found out that i had forbidden all silk haha good job me but at least i got to drop a bear on someone)

I once had a baroness who regularly got utterly traumatized (word by word!) by a lessers pretentious burial arrangements. Said burial arrangements were a coffin in a rough-hewn stone room. And she had a golden sarcophagus with golden statues in a smoothed marble (i think, the details are a bit blurry), which might have had high-quality engravings as well. She rarely made it past unhappy. It might have had something to do with her being mayor as well, which could probably cause some kind of causality loop in a dorf brain, frying it with unhappiness.

Or, make their tombs shaped like their beards, and have a forbidden alcohol storage inside, one barrel for every kill they made. That'd be the ultimate honor for any dorf. They get to rest in supersized versions of their own booze-soaked beards!

Well, i actually developed a mild compassion for my miner who tackled and subsequently got crippled by a polar bear. She went on to survive multiple forgotten beasts and cave-ins, so when she finally succumbed to explosive bleeding, caused by toxic blood from an invading giant purple alligator, i baww'd a little. Not to mention that she was the last legendary miner i had, and was a legendary crutchwalker too. LEGENDARY. CRUTCHWALKER.

It would be rather fun to be a mortal adventurer who sought to kill all immortals. I AM URIST MCIMMORTALSLAYER, SLAYER OF IMMORTALS. FEAR MY BEARD.

Ooh, that's clever!

1. START NEW ADVENTURER
2. GET HIM/HER KILLED
3. GRAB CORPSE WITH NEW ADVENTURER
4. REPEAT FOR INFINITE MONEY

Also, this is how my manly furnace operator defeated a fearsome fire imp.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

He knocked the circles out of it.

Thing is, dorfs can be EXTREMELY deadly in a scrap, due to their powerful alcoholism. Oh, and martial trances. If any military dorf gets this glorious blessing of Armok and wades into a group of enemies, then by Armok, HE/SHE IS GOING TO KILL THEM SO BADLY THAT THEIR ANCESTORS GET UP FROM THEIR GRAVES AND EXPLODE. Even dorfs with only moderate weapon skills outside of a trance can be quite formidable in combat, especially against less experienced foes. That being said though, the random number god just hates you sometimes, which will inevitably get your dorfs done in. It's only a matter of time! If you don't want to wait that long, put your dorfs in a room and crush them into the magma sea with a cave-in. If the miner doesn't die, he'll go insane.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: May 10, 2011, 03:58:23 pm »
Good call. :U

Also, just had my first goblin ambush on my fort in a terrifying biome. Strangely, goblins haven't bothered me much, but then again, i've had undead giant capybaras, so it's all good. So anyways, since i have a single axedorf with good skills (read: adept axedorf and proficient dodger) in my military (who recently got clad in steel), i obviously send him at the goblins. There were 6 hammergobs and one axegob. My dorf arrived, and carnage ensued. He chopped them all into bite sized chunks (despite being jumped by 3-4 at once), and took zero damage himself. He didn't even bother trancing! :P
