consider who it is you're referring to and then consider yourself lucky that it only looks like one

:V

I know i've often referred to giant dogs as beardogs, but this... Is a rather humorous take on that. :P

also plegg duggter

Spoiler: plehg ducktape (click to show/hide)

Half-assed everything below the head and couldn't be arsed to think up an interesting colour scheme, but otherwise pretty happy with it.

Well, that is just fucking awesome, both the beard and the painting! Two things though: The eye seems a bit too dark, and the other eye(socket) just kinda disappears behind the glass, though i'm almost sure that this is due to distortion caused by the glass (here assuming that you referenced a photo or reflection or something, but if not, holy shit). It just seems to me like if there wasn't a glass, the eye should be at least partially visible from this angle.

also wow u guise are setting a high average quality in here

TIME TO DROP IT WITH SKETCHES

corgi boofing

That besides, i also had a really nice experience yesterday that i WANTED to write about, but didn't get around to because messed up sleep (entirely my own fault) is making me feel pretty shit in between the good moments.

SO THE GOOD EXPERIENCE: Every monday for the past many weeks, i've been going to a uh... Talk group? I don't know the proper english term here, but basically, this particular kind of group is something for people with generally social problems (surprise, Shook is not well versed in social!), and is led by volunteers who help us discuss the things and teach us a bit about things that are difficult for us. This alone is a great thing, and i've really enjoyed my time there even though it's sometimes horribly tear jerking to hear the problems that others are going through.

But, yesterday, during the mid-time break, a nice thing happened. Well, just before the break started, actually, but anyhoo, i was asked about how my drawing ventures were going (i had mentioned Inktober to them and such), and i said "a bit slowly but i have done a few things" et cetera. This led to them asking if we could take a look (it was break time anyways), and i was like yeah sure but my nerves are flaring up. So, tl;dr, i input the URL for my deviantart gallery into someone elses computer for the very first time in person, saw it opened on another persons computer in person (also for the very first time), and you know what? It was really nice! They browsed through it, laughing, giggling and generally reacting very positively, and oh man it was fantastic to see this in person. I've gotten a lot of kind words written online (thanks <3), and don't get me wrong, i hella appreciate that, it's just that... Well, it's text, it doesn't convey emotions very well. When i actually saw people losing their shit over a very long-necked dog nodding violently, it just made me really happy. That is precisely why i even bother uploading my doodlings; because i hope to share the fun i've had drawing them with others. c:

Humm, i feel... Comfortably melancholic right now. Like, my mood is down, but it feels okay, like it's by choice instead of forced upon me. As if i could shift back to chirpy in a moment if i wanted to, but right now, i'm comfortable in this little hole of mine. It's not even about giving up and accepting misery as an eternal companion in my (not really) tormented life, because i'm not THAT far down, i just... Feel like this is how i want to feel right now, even if it's a non-ideal mood. Weird, but acceptable.

mostly just basic shapes
That's the key right there. Boiling your character down to fewer and simpler shapes is what gives that nice stylized appearance, and if you need examples, modern animated TV series are good. Take a good look at the individual details on your character and consider the following: Can you recognize the character without it? Because if your character is defined by a load of minor details, you might need to rethink the design. Ideally, the silhouette on its own should be distinct and recognizable naked and bald (... genitals optional), and if you need to retain your sanity while animating, said silhouette benefits from being relatively simple.

Of course, there are also animations that go with a more realistic style (i.e. Legend of Korra and Redline), and that is absolutely also possible to pull off, but these are expensive productions if you don't cut a shit ton of corners.

das a big sord

Nice and warm colours to go with the fiery theme, good job!

I've been sporadically doing Huevember, which is one of those art challenge months that goes around. The idea is to do something every day in only one hue (but using saturation and value). If you follow my Tumblr, you probably know how much I love colour theory, so this is an art challenge I really don't find very difficult. :P

Spoiler: #4: Orange Seascape (click to show/hide)

I'll probably only post the ones I like, since I might end up doing quite a lot of these and since I don't have much time for painting they're all in a bit of a slapdash style. I really like this one - if it weren't for the little hook under the sun, I might be inclined to print it.
I like it! The water texture in particular is very good, i can't figure out how to water for the life of me. :V

also i had some down time yesterday during Shadowrun where i wasn't relevant so i doodled a voofer

It's unusual that i have an urge to draw something extra adorable. :P

All good points, thanks for telling me. I might not necessarily fix them right now (already spent a plural of hours on this thing today), but i'll definitely keep them in mind.

Do tell if i fucked something up colossally, i've pretty much stared myself blind at it by now. Original for comparison, which i hope is in the new ones favour. :P

Yeah it causes problems for my Shadowrun sessions too, GM's in murica and muricans don't change back before Nov. 5th (whereas I, a lowly yooropeon, do it at Oct. 29th), which requires me to be extra alert. I'm fairly indifferent (bordering on negatively opinionated) on daylight saving time, but it could at least have been fucking consistent across the globe. >.>

Also i love how smooth your lines are. Smooth lines are love, life and eternity. :v

also also i finally had an idea for how to do landscape gooder for junkwerm

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

By abusing my geology knowledge, of course! Rocks are layered and layers fold and tilt, THIS MAKES COOL THINGS HAPPEN. Obviously not done yet but i'm pretty happy with how it's going, for once. :P

Well i mean i have considered the idea of submitting the floof to a plush toy designer, but couldn't really find the right place to do so. :v

@karhell: SPHINXBOOBERS

...

YES OKAY WHY NOT. I'd probably draw more tits if i didn't have annoying anxiety issues, because tits are nice. Good job lasting through the whole ordeal! :D

also I MADE IT TOO WOO

Niiiiiiiiiice. I feel like i'm just stuck on repeat here, but i blame you for consistently producing awesome inkings. :v

Totally a coincidence, right, right!?!?!
Yeeeeeeeeeeees, definitely. Absolutely no reason to be worried about ducks watching you. :^)

i, on the other hand, did not really enjoy todays prompt or inking so eh
