Doesn't help that you talk yourself down at every given opportunity, but you haven't given up yet so you'll be fine.
Having been in that hole myself, i can confirm that it does bad things to your self-esteem. Sure, i still self deprecate nowadays, but mostly because it amuses me, not because i actually believe i'm a slow and lazy shit (well i am objectively lazy and absent minded, but that's not really something that bothers me). It just doesn't feel right to toot my own horn at every given opportunity. :v

But yeah, reiterating what GUNIN said, you gotta try to accept your creations for what they are at the time, accept the flaws they have, and try to learn from those flaws. I'm not gonna pretend that i love how everything i make turns out, i've had plenty of things where i thought like "this went terribly", and even one case where i just flat out deleted the entire thing because i hated it so much. It happens, it's fine. Try to figure out WHY you don't like the outcome, and don't you fucking dare say "because i suck". It's something about the drawing itself, and since you now have it before your very eyes, you can scrutinize it and figure out what went wrong. Then, you can either experiment and try to fix it on your own, or look up how other people do that thing, or some other thing i can't think of off the top of my head. I personally lean towards the former, but either way works. Just don't settle on "i don't like this" for everything, that won't get you anywhere.

Also, make sure to reward yourself by taking note of the things that went well. It can be rough to only look for all the bad things, because that might instill a belief that you only make bad things. That is rarely ever the case, and no you are not the rare exception.

I actually have a convenient example ready, even though it wasn't made for this purpose; i'm gonna spoiler it for size.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So tl;dr observe and identify. Actually fixing the drawing is optional, it'll work just as well to employ the knowledge in future works.

Awesome! The inkings remind me of Renaissance prints of fantastic beasts. Like this. Very cool style/subject matter.
i concur with this and i love it

Also re: improving slowly, can confirm, it takes a while, and it is particularly difficult to see your own improvements. If you go at it intensely and with great dedication (like, 2-3 hours of practicing relevant things every day), you're obviously going to see results MUCH faster than a slowpoke like me, but in any case, if you're having fun and you're trying to do better each time, things will happen. The latter is pretty much what i've been doing, and while i'm not exactly a magic tier artist yet, i have reached a point where i can't deny that progress has been made. The example that i like to use, which i've probably also used before in here, is this dragon (drawn 4 years ago) versus this one (drawn 6 months ago). I still have no fucking idea how i got to this point. :v

also i doodled a dude in a cool pose

Well, metaspecies are, from what my limited knowledge implies, a new species that sprung from an existing one as a result of the awakening of magic. For animals, this often means mythical creatures, though i've no idea what the system behind it is, if anything. I do know that barghests (huge spiky dogs with a paralyzing howl) came from english mastiffs, and fenrir wolves came from uh... Wolves. Then there's radhounds, but they're not really natural, they're dogs afflicted by a mutated form of rabies that likes highly radioactive areas, and as such can be anywhere from a pug to an irish wolfhound (though most commonly, they're street mongrels). :v

Mmm, nice music. Not sure whether to say groovy or funky, but one (or both) of those. :v

Hellhound or no, that's super adorable doggo :D
THANKTH. I have since realized that they're probably closer to (fire-breathing) wolves in behaviour, but hey, wolves can be tamed to be adorable too. :U

Now draw it saying "BORK" and it borks fire on its bowl of kibbles.

So i decided to try drawing a hell hound as they're described in Shadowrun. Now, you might be thinking, a setting as gritty and dystopian as Shadowrun, that's gotta have some nasty-as-fuck hell hounds, right? Well...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"The hell hound is a metaspecies of the German shepherd dog, standing about ninety centimeters at the shoulder and weighing in at about 145 kilograms. Their coats are as black as coal, and their eyes are redrimmed." (i opted for a slightly brighter coat colour to avoid blending everything together)

Basically a large black dog with funky eyes. Worst part about them is that they can breathe fire. :v

You know I actually have some happy I didn't expect to have. Might as well post it.

A conversation I didn't expect to be having had me talking about some pretty nice memories I had, which sent me overlooking how doing certain things actually made me feel and react.

I've been trying to figure out what exactly, really happened to me over the past 2 and a half years or so. Maybe longer I'm losing track of time on pretty much every scale since I'm exhausted in a lot of ways, but I realized that a lot of times I felt the most at peace with myself, and like I had an actual reason to exist, I was creating something. Either super small scale or something bigger I was planning or working on, just always fiddling around with something, trying to make it just perfect. That's what's missing, that's what I need again. I need to just buckle down and start working on something, anything.

I'm too physically exhausted to even think of starting tonight, but you know what I think it's time to crack open GZdoombuilder or something and get to putting SOMETHING in my head out in the world, even if it's something so insignificant to some people.

Heck yeah.  If you have that kind of passion to create, you have to share it.
Can confirm, creating things is wonderful, and sharing the fun you've had is excellent. It's not even about power tripping or ego boosting (though i won't deny that i am receptive to ego boosting :v), it's just that primal joy of making something that means something to you. Drawing seems to be my way of doing this, but as a guy who enjoys playing the original Doom even after all these years (especially with Project Brutality, o boy), i can tell you that i have a soft spot for Doom modders and mappers. Hell, any modder/mapper deserves praise for producing more content for a game, usually without any pay whatsoever.

Oh boy, managed to royally piss off my mom with a single remark that none of my friends would have thought any more than "oh snap" to. Long story short, she was, for sort of understandable reasons, snarking at me about my undoubtably very busy day*. Ok, fair enough, a bit of sarcasm i don't mind. She just keeps doing it, and it started to annoy me. She then said, in what i (and my brother) perceived to be a rather sarcastic tone, "yeah you sure have a busy day". I retort by saying "it's busier than yours". She's retired, and as such, obviously has a lot of free time. Everything i've heard from her implies that she's actually enjoying it, and she's also noticably more mellow since retiring because of not being stressed all the time. But, alas, my remark apparently rolled a natural 20 and lit a volcano inside her, out of fucking nowhere. She claimed that she just wanted to help, and that may have been so (hence why i also feel bad for apparently insulting her horribly), but she KNOWS i'm socially handicapped and bad at picking up on implied intentions, and should bloody well also know that people aren't just going to stand there and eat all the sarcasm in the world without slinging some of it back. What's the saying, don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house? She's a wonderful parent, but goddamn does she ever live in a glass house; one pebble in the wrong spot from me and it all goes boom. Small fucking wonder i've grown up to be afraid of speaking my mind. >.>

* I get up at noon every day, eat breakfast, bathroom for 45 minutes, game a bit and then go outside for about an hour, and after that point it is (today) around 16 o'clock; these days, i'm also helping dad (who gets home at 17) put a new roof on his shed, which takes 2-4 hours out of every applicable day. My brother then surprises me at 16 by saying "WE BAKE CRISPBREAD(?)", which annoys me because it comes out of nowhere and forces me to change course for something that generally doesn't benefit me all that much. Also worth noting is that my bad sleeping habits are making me awfully irritable.

well technically if you're putting nacho chips up in people you're doing something wrong OR following oddly specific instructions

That besides, holy crap. I know that various companies are hankering for personal information about everyone, but this is approaching Shadowrun-tier dystopia at an alarming rate. As much as i like the roleplaying game, i do not wish for it to become our reality. >.>

Gosh, that's horrible. I know i have my share of things that will stay with me till the end of my days, but nothing like that. I hope you do find the last nooks and crannies to scour the little shit out of, and if nothing else, even if you can't truly win, you can still beat it down to the size of an imp that you can just stomp on whenever it rears its ugly head. I hope. :v

As for my sad of today, i had a bad night. Went to bed at 3, fell asleep somewhere after 5:30. I just COULD NOT SLEEP, even though i was plenty tired. To compound things, i was jumpscared by my own brain in the early end of this stint, and it was surprisingly nasty. Long story short because this isn't the dream thread, i was browsing art and stuff, happened upon a face while scrolling down that can best be described as Zalgo^2, and that just fucking invades every other image present with a rather startling noise*. That scared the shit out of me. Past that, my brain basically looped for the next 2-3 hours, as if i had a fever, and i was scared of letting it proceed every goddamn time because it might also repeat the scare.

Enter today, after a comparatively miniscule amount of sleep. I am not feeling well. Obviously tired, but also somewhat restless at the same time, my belly unusually cranky, and i feel like my head just hasn't emptied overnight, like it's overloaded. I'm just glad i'm not supposed to be roleplaying today, i couldn't manage that right now. >.>

* if you're feeling masochistic, 0:16 in this vid, but fair warning, this thing is overall scary as hell and i wouldn't recommend listening if you're of a nervous disposition

Ooo, feedback! All noted, thanks, i'm sorry i can't be arsed to respond to it all directly. I'll try and make better use of it next time, but for now, i decided to go full apeshit and make the horse iridescent. :v
