Oh yes, the right brush can make a difference for sure! Observe as i switch to the generic pencil in Paint:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Not the biggest of differences, but if you look closely, you can see that the lines are aliased here, which makes for a slightly rougher appearance than the smoothed lines of the previous dog. And then, we can make a comparison to a different brush:

In this case, the lines are a little fuzzier, which approximates fur better. I usually prefer the sleek lines of the smoothed round brush, but i am aware that other opinions may differ.

Always nice to let puns like that out of the system, even if others may suffer. If that is so, then let them suffer and despair. :v

Guns AND magic? Can't disapprove, not possible for me. Seems like a worthy use of business stock images. :v

also here have a dog

again

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So i actually did something slightly different here: I used a round brush for the lines, instead of my usual tilted 2:1 rectangle brush. I did this because i wanted to test out if it was the brush making my things look hella skewed when i mirrored them. Test result: It was. I might keep the round brush. :v

also i personally really like how the style turned out here

hi guise awesome to see that you've been doing things in my absence YOU MAKE ME HAPPY

Rest assured that i haven't forgotten about this in the slightest, i've just been having very sub-par sleep that's negatively impacting my fartsy drive and ability to be around other people. That, and a few very nice video games. This is mostly just a status report, but i'll give you a ping here when my body is ready again, because dammit it's fun and i want to do it more. :v

(Dis)advantage actually works quite well, since it quite significantly shifts the odds towards the side of the advantage. You'll be fairly confident in doing a roll with advantage (unless the target number is fucking high), and you'll be fairly reluctant to roll with disadvantage. As a bonus, with advantage, you have a greater chance of a nat 20 and lower chance of nat 1, and hey, who doesn't like more crits? :v (also the cantrips are delicious, just saying)

In all honesty though, as iconic as the d20 is for tabletop roleplaying, i'm actually not that big a fan of it in action. It's satisfying to roll, and nailing a 20 is always awesome, but i don't like the flat distribution of results; a seasoned veteran has as high a risk of a natural 1 as a complete rookie. That's also partly why i like the advantage system, since it messes with the otherwise flat probability curve. In a group i once played in (Cypher system, also d20-based), we actually ended up switching to 2d10 instead, which i found more enjoyable even though there were fewer exceptional results. It did make their appearance all the more exciting, however. :v

I thinkkkkkkkkkkk the "pool of d6's" system that Shadowrun uses is my favourite so far. If you're unfamiliar with it, here's the short version: Roll all your d6's for that skill test, count 5's and 6's as hits. If your hits meet a certain threshold (sometimes dictated by an opposed roll), you succeed. If more than half your dice are 1's, it's a glitch. If you get a glitch with no successes, it's a critical glitch. Modifiers are generally handled as dicepool bonuses or penalties. What i like about this is that your risk of glitches scales with your dicepool, so that a rookie is MUCH more likely to fuck up than a veteran, and i like this because IT MAKES SENSE.

At that particular point, yes. One combat mage, one face/mage hybrid and one adept, so the mundanes in our team (including me, the socially ret- uh, crippled rigger, which was a personality i picked because it was easiest for me to reproduce at first) were actually outnumbered. Right now we only have one mage who's an unfittingly innocent 16 year old bodyguard, played by the same guy as Penrose. Scary thing is that this kid is actually fairly competent in spite of his incredible naivete. :v

SO, time for a tale from Shadowrun. This happened some sessions ago, but it's definitely still worth mentioning. Spoiler because minor wall of text. Also maybe not for the very faint of heart, but come on, we're in the dorf fortress forums, none of us have that issue. :v

So i snagged Thumper at the Steam summer sales yesterday. It was a good purchase. This game is so fucking intense and demanding in concentration that it's actually exhausting to play, but holy hell does it feel good when you NAIL the relentless onslaught of inputs coming your way at all times, and so far it doesn't feel unfair at any time. I quite like super intense games like this. :v

It's never been anything else. It's just how I am.
LIGHT YOURSELF ON FIRE WITH BURNING PASSION SO YOU CAN SEE WHERE YOU GOOOOOOOO

Srs talk though, i know that "where do i go" feeling all too well, it sucks harder than an industrial vacuum cleaner during a power surge. People are just telling me to pick a direction and go from there, but it's really not that simple in my head. Even without the grey haze that is my outlook on my future, what i see is about 250 separate paths, with two of them marked with a faceplant after a year or two. It's important for me to find the right path, but i can't see what's at the end of them, and i don't want to waste another two years on something that ultimately doesn't interest me. Thus, paralysis by analysis. Gotta keep looking though, because the alternative ain't appealing. If nothing else, remember the one thing life has that's always worth considering: Video games. :v

Man i sometimes oughta follow that principle, but i just can't resist an awesome idea. :v

also hi i'm back from vacation and i drew a thing while i was there

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I originally considered a background, but then my laziness happened. Still, two characters actually interacting in detail is a rare thing from me. :P
For a bit of lore-wise clarification, the noodle is Nudiro, who's a rather small but still very powerful eastern dragon who's the absolute top swordmaster in that particular world and the third most powerful being overall, while the shadowy figure is a very average abyssal demon who wasn't expecting to actually find a challenge. The two are canonically fighting on par with each other, with the fight lasting for a week before they mutually declared it a draw. On one hand, it speaks highly for Nudiro's ability that he can match an abyssal demon, but on the other, it's maybe a bit worrying that a merely average abyssal demon is all it took to match him. :v

You've forgotten to host it remotely. :v
For general information to the public, if you're among the people who generally can't host things because of an overenthusiastic router, you can host a room on drawpile.net by clicking on the "remote" option instead of "built-in", and then inputting "drawpile.net". It has a biiiit of lag time, but it's overall entirely workable.

Oh, also, GMT+1
Hooray for same time zones! \o/

Aw shoot heck, i missed it too. :c
Oh well, i'm not entirely sure if i have the energy to host today, i'm tired like some dude who has only slept inadequately from about 3:30 to 9 and who had to shift his awakening time by 2 hours in one day, which is to say that i'm pretty tired. I'll give a peep if i change my mind, of course. In the mean time, you should absolutely feel free to do like Japa and host at times where i'm not necessarily around, especially since i'll be MIA from saturday till next saturday.

Also, i have to say that i'm proper chuffed that there is so much interest! It just bothers me ever so slightly that i failed to consider my vacation before posting this thread, so i hope you can bear with me and not necessarily abandon the ship forever within the next week or two. :v

It's cool, i know you like your boobs n butts. Just keep an eye on the chat for future notice, yes? :v
Here's the canvas i saved before leaving, with some added censoring just in case. There's no explicit nudity even without the censor boxes, but hey, gotta watch our steps here. Participants were Nirur Torir, GUNINANRUNIN, Karhell and myself. Nirur might have a newer version, though. :P

ALL REET THEN, me and Nirur have managed to establish connection, although it had to be hosted at Drawpile.net. Look for "bay12drawpile" in here or in the built-in server list (found under Session/Join/Find), and i'm going to be daring and say out loud that the password is "eggnog3000", at least this time. If that goes horribly awry, i'll just change it. :v

Edit: I've left now, HugoLuman and Nirur Torir might still be there. Here's how it looked right before i left. :U
