I'm in, gonna stay for undetermined time, but I'll probably be back later afternoon.
Argh, I'm late again. I'll stay and organize my songs anyway.

Putin has just spoken about the treaty on RT's Russian stream. Nothing definite, only standard diplomatic babble. Also, Kiev refuses to negotiate with the DNR and LNR directly.

EDIT: According to BBC, a ceasefire was actually agreed upon - it is set to begin on the 15th of February.

Some photos from the negotiations:
Spoiler: A friendly meeting (click to show/hide)

The press conference was originally scheduled at 12:00 local time (in about 8 minutes or so). The negotiations are still ongoing.

EDIT: RT's stream shows some commotion - the microphones are being tested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxrnlfXYo30

Piece of a toilet paper can't stop a war.

Even if Ukraine will agree on all "Novorossian" conditions (that is their de facto independence coupled with veto power in Ukrainian foreign policy and social benefit payments from Ukrainian budget) this will not stop the war. Only delay it till little green man appear in some other region of Ukraine. Because what will stop Putin from repeating successful strategy?
On the other side, the reaction is completely opposite: many supporters of Novorossiya are outraged at the very notion of DNR and LNR remaining a part of Ukraine and regard the new Minsk accords as a capitulation to Ukraine.
RT claims that the leaders of the DNR and LNR have refused to signed the document.

A new round of negotiations between representatives of Russia, Novorossiya, Ukraine and the OSCE has concluded in Minsk, Belarus. Details are scarce, there are rumours claiming that the creation of a DMZ and the deployment of an international peacekeeping force are among the proposals currently being discussed by the opposing parties.
Tomorrow, the leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine will arrive in Minsk to conduct negotiations on the war in Ukraine.

The soviet mass building style is so darn ugly in those photos, that even without war and carnage i'd feel sorry for the people.
Prefab buildings like these were snow white immediately after construction. Due to poor maintenance, they have dilapidated to the current state. In some post-Soviet countries they are renovated, in some they are not, due to a lack of funds.
This, this, this, this, this and this is also Soviet architecture, by the way.

Enough about architecture, here are some more photos and videos from Ukraine.

It's a shame this thread is so inactive.

The 4th thread about Russia and Ukraine is over, consumed by flaming, but for a topic which was extremely flammable years before the war, it's not usual. The war, however, is not. A lot of various footage was released since then. I used to upload them in the Russia thread, but now it's locked and I don't want to spam the Europol thread. That's why I'm necroing this thread.

Most of the footage was shot by Novorossiyan troops. Ukrainians don't make many photos and videos these days, because their enemies apparently geolocate the Ukrainian positions from their combat footage. Most of the footage was shamelessly stolen from Novorossiya's Colonel Cassad.

Where can uranium be found? I've only found very scarce amounts of it deep underneath the surface of moons.

It's interesting to see just how low the percentage of "independent Crimea" people there is.

Owlbread, if you want to make them independent, I'm pretty sure you would have to do it by force.
Don't give him ideas! :P
