Not sure exactly how quality affects armor, but I'm pretty sure the material is a lot more important.
normal to exceptional gives x1 Armor Deflect Modifier
masterwork gives x2 Armor Deflect Modifier
artifact x3 Armor Deflect Modifier
but, yea material is much more important
Thanks. Is this on the wiki anywhere? I tried to find it but couldn't. What's the source for this?

I don't think it's really a new idea.... I think that's just the first specific design someone put on the wiki.

Someone had a design with the hatches staggered "honeycomb" style so that all stockpiles were orthogonally adjacent to a pit (not just diagonally) but I don't actually know if that lowers the chances of creatures escaping....

I think I'll create a specific wiki page to encourage people to add to it....

That's what I was talking about. I think I'll download the src for DT and learn how to build it. Maybe I can get a lua scripting engine working or something, if it isn't too difficult for some reason.

This seems like the kind of thing that would be good to integrate with Dwarf Therapist. DT already contains the information. Something like a lua engine to run arbitrary scripts in DT that make use of DT's data would be kind of cool.

One thing you can do is build the cage somewhere as a building. Just make sure to hit x to expand the list of cages and select the dragon cage itself. Don't build some other empty cage and try to move the dragon into the cage.

After you've built the cage you can turn the room it's in into a zoo. If nothing else this will allow you to put the cage in some room where you can lock the door, if you're paranoid and want to make sure dwarves can't get to it.

Oh, and technically a dragon isn't a titan... it's a megabeast but not a titan. Titans are randomly generated megabeasts, along with forgotten beasts.

Hit 'i' and create a pit/pond activity zone. Configure it to be a pit and assign animals to it with P

Adamantine cloaks are pretty good actually, but they will ware out just like normal clothing. Arguably this is kind of silly given that they are made of adamantine, but currently this is the way the game works.

Chain mail shirts might be a better choice. They'll last forever and have good coverage.

Hmm.... I didn't know that mountains protected you from ambush. Maybe they get treated like a "site" since you can't walk over them in fast travel....

Even with max meat shields ambushes have caused me problems. Seems like ambush parties always increase in number to match the size of your group. Might not be a problem for the first ambush, but when it happens like 3 nights in a row the meat shields tend to get depleted.

which is not very good. Of course the main purpose of that document is to teach people to set up a self-sustaining fort rather than keep it from getting slaughtered.

Ideally I think that whole section should be deleted and replaced with a link to a military tutorial.

I think the main things that people don't get are schedules for training, alerts, civilian alerts, and scheduling patrols. I think people often miss the ammo and uniform config stuff too.

Yea but shouldn't the armor cool down after a while? If it doesn't then it seems like a bug, and that code was just changed. (That character did get all new armor, but died after a few more major fights.)

You can just assign any dwarf to a burrow and they'll generally stay within it, unless it's to eat or drink.
