I would very much like to see that. :P Hell, I'd like to see a longbow pin anything to concrete.

Damnit do you know how hard it is to justify things i have heard at some point in my life and decide to believe because it sounds awesome?

It has inspired me to mine out and form an underground community. As of yet I've had no luck finding a suitable location, however.
I recommend Scandinavia.  Only a thin soil layer and lots of shallow metal.  Lots of trees for beds.  There's also bears, wolves, lynxes, wolverines, and moose for pets.  The only downside is an above-average density of uninvited guests...

'Ts only a problem if you don't build cage traps.

Scandinavia has above-average densities of german porn stars-er..Forgotten Beasts?

One thing a longbow could do is pin a man to concrete if fired at them from an elevated position.

Just in case you don't have the custom world gen file, myself being not so omniscient, here it is. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UH8NOOPX

Do you not have the custom world_gen file that lets you generate with advance perameters within the games world gen function itself?

The variance is part of what makes them spawn in absurd places, and its why you make the minimum number greater. Its all about increasing the odds. Anyway that's what i would suggest.

Basically what you want is to whack in a large number of minimum volcanoes. You then set volcano X/Y variance to 3200. You then let it gen. After 100 or so rejections you have the offer to just accept the next generation regardless, potentially making a legends only world, but i have never had this occur. These worlds have flat volcanos, perfectly cylindrical volcanoes, island volcanoes and clusters of surface magma pools meaning i had no open land or ground to work with. It was insane and terrible.

Set mineral scarcity to 100 and give yourself more embark points while your at it. :D

I think they're more engineers.  "Ach, 'tis close 'nuf.  Just add twice as much f'er a margin of err'r."

I can imagine how a dwarven airplane would fly. In fact, I even found a model.

I found the take-off area

I was under the impression "persuasion" and "catapult" were interchangable.

I was under the impression they had evolved a white hole/black hole system in place of of digestive tract. Matter goes in, energy is cast from the edges and occasionally, matter that goes into the quantum network is spat out of a white hole in the form of vomit. This explains the farming system, where the soil is impregnated with constantly vomiting (See fertilising) white hole worms!

The next step: BLACK HOLE CANNONS. MADE OF OBSIDIAN. FUELLED BY MAGMA
