My fort kept making engravings of a spoilertanium warhammer.

The current one has made thousands of masterwork engravings of the same fight between a named lynx being killed by a named elephant. As in, 5 out of 6 are this particular reproduction. Pain in the ARSE

Actually, randomly generated poisons would be really cool. You could have blowdarts armed something with the description like:

"This thick green slime is formed from dragon's blood mixed with the ground-up bones of a badger. It causes the targets ears and fingers to wither and fall off, eventually leading to projectile vomiting and death"

Then you could have your dwarfs create random poisons, and use them in traps or bolts.

"This thick green slime is- AUGH GOD IT'S ALIVE AND CRAWLING UP MY ARM! IT IS ENTERING MY BLOOD! AUAUAAGHHHhhrck....Must...feast...on....eyeballs"

I put it down to tremorsense. In DnD tremorsense as standard allows something with it to detect anything so long as it is in contact with the ground or a solid object on the ground. Which is why dwarves have a limited field of vision (about what, ten tiles?)

Right... I never have followers, so I don't have that problem. And I didn't know it didn't happen anymore since after beiing launched, I learned to always block their attacks :P

Blocking is for people who don't have something murderlicious in each hand

So...who remembers the day of cheese swords menacing with spikes of plump helmets? Good times. Toady should leave those 'goodbad' bugs in. Like Skyrim and their psionic guard like presence, bearing witness to their own murder and giants launching you into orbit

So wait, did I simply misunderstand, or don't giants launch you into orbit anymore? It's been some time since one killed me last, back then I was launched into orbit.

If it's been patched out it's been done in the last 1.3 release due to the unforunate occurence of followers being unrecoverable after a flight. Whingy assfucks. Ruining our fun. There should be a mod to add it back in by now

It'll prolly be an unarmed minatour or cyclops :P

My first megabeasts tend to be either FBs or Rocs/Thunderbirds/Deep Crows. Weird really

DF reveal, collapsing cave sections down a volcano will reveal caverns and spoilertanium, caves, funny little downward slopes that count as caverns despite being a 1 tile downwards slope etc...they all have this quirk. OMG UNDERGROUND SPORE SPORE SPORE is more or less the games reading of it

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Toady's updates
« on: December 26, 2011, 09:44:42 am »
Did anyone else find this recent one...

"Today was the sort of day where I thought things were working out. Then I test-embarked in a different town, and bandit leaders were embedded in the walls, dungeon rooms came up through the street and into the center of stores, the sewers were completely inaccessible, amphibian men were hanging out in a farm house and a gigantic frozen river of ice raised up from the ground and partitioned the town except where the bridges cut tunnels through it. I fixed all of those problems to get back where I thought I was when I started."

...incredibly tempting?

This makes me want to play bugged out adventure mode--towns with rampaging wall bandits, farmhouse lizard cults, towers of ice and, in a prior, unquoted update, sewer folk shooting townies with poisoned darts through sewer grates.

All these things sounds like the bestest feature/bugs we could ask for come next update.  I hope you don't fix them all Toady!

It's like a cross between a chaos incursion and Shadow over Innsmouth with a bit of Dunwitch Horror

Then I now understand why they are alienated by the other races.

I think they are adorable. Little tentacally cthulhuesque abominations with toxic harpoon firing stinging cells and all ...wavy and...cute

Looks like someone fused an octopus with a one-armed macaroni noodle.

I believe thats what goblins look like in DF...

Oh, hyrda exist ... just not at the scale that would threaten a fort with more than foodpoisoning. ;)

We can assume that if the hydra can rapidly grow heads, it's heart can compensate :P

Except it can't. So yeah.

WE ARE ASSUMING LOTS OF THINGS!
Not the least of which are hydras.

SHUT UP HYDRA EXIST. I have one chained to the foot of my bed. It's a female, naturally.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What to do with a gigantic panda?
« on: December 25, 2011, 07:13:09 pm »
So, some elf traders came, and after multiple attempts for a totally fair trade, they got pissed and said they wouldn't trade anymore. I promptly ordered my dwarves to seize their goods, and little did I know one of those goods was a gigantic panda. What should I do with it? I don't have any bamboo, so if uncaged it'll starve to death before I can train it, and it's just sitting in my animal stockpile...

Butcher it.
