I thought it meant they'd carry the cart, and were thus slowed down by the weight.

It'll have to be bigger than 1x3, or the wheelbarrows will take up all the space.

Press 'c' on the main menu to check and ensure that other civs have access. If it's only the dwarves you'll not get sieged. If you're on an island, that's nearly guaranteed. I think it counts for Titans. (Aboveground Titan, Below Forgotten Beast.)

Try punching into the Caverns. That should show up a Forgotten Beast.

The question of hauling with wheel barrows and without, is a question of distance.

Are you going a long distance? More than 20 tiles? If so then the gang hauling approach starts to lose out to the wheelbarrows. Shorter and the time spent carrying is negated by the speed going back for more.

Upstairs? I'm unsure of the exact mechanic here. I suspect the barrows are being carried up the stairs, which would make them actually slower in ascending but that time would be recovered by the acceleration over flat ground. I recall ramps being a suggested alternative, but the time spent digging a ramp way for barrows would be better served for minecarts.

Are you going more than 2-3z levels? Consider mine carts. A single minecart holds 5 stones and is pushed along it's track just as quickly as a wheelbarrow is along level ground. Minecarts can be automatically dumped and then 'Push'ed down a hole to return them to the start. With multiple tracks this can very much shorten the time to clear stone from a room, and it leaves more dwarves free for other labors, like farming or mass crafting.

If you're going a long distance with the stones to reach a minecart depot, then barrows are a good choice.

Do you have sand? If so, nothing says: My name is Urist, you killed no one I ever met, prepare to die. Quite like a cart full of Serrated Glass Discs.

I suspect the water is being pressurized to return to it's original level, though the 50 power is a bit weird. Possibly it's generating only partial flow? I seem to recall something like that happening though I don't recall the reason.

My turn is next, and I can guarantee I won't be able to download the save until Midnight Sunday at the earliest. Quirk of my internet. If you have to quit early, I'll finish the turn for you.

Ah. I ask because I've had a far more positive experience with glass industry than I have with clay, and you don't have to glaze glass pots.

Aquifer is great news. It means no more losses to thirst. I hope. :D

Good idea. I've been trying to think 'Floor>Wall' = 'Input>Output'.

White M's? No,NO anything but white M's! AIGH! (I had a fort with a minor goblin issue and a serious infestation of Rhesus Macaques. They rolled over a siege of goblins. It was... ugly.

On topic: One of the reason to be able to read the ASCII set at least is to be able to correlate it to the Wiki, which is primarily in the default ASCII for maximum understanding no matter what the final game on the user end looks like.

If you've already dug both levels for a cistern, you must designate channeling in single strips. So if the stairs are in one corner, you designate the two sides not connected to it, then once those are dug, the next.

Code: [Select]
XXXX
XXXX
XXXX
XXXX

HHHH
HXXX
HXXX
HXXX

X=Floor
H=Channel Designation

I presume that requires gloved mechanics?
