Tried to see if I could remember the way to empty a occupied cage, ended up stumbling upon this description.

Swoleraven's now my forts unofficial mascot.

So a bit of backstory, my miner dwarf was injured in a cave-in accident when digging out a cistern for the fortress's well. I hastily cobbled together a hospital out of an empty room, fitted it out with the stuff a hospital needs (Bed, couple of containers, table and Traction Bench) and left it at that, hoping that the rest of the fort would pick up the miner, unceremoniously dump him in the bed, where my Fish-gutter cum Chief Medical Dorf could diagnose him with a broken leg, and we'd all be happy.

However, the miner died as he lived. Dehydrated at the bottom of an empty cistern. So I removed the hospital designation and set all the furniture to be removed. Everything that made that particular room a hospital has gone, but still Dorfs get the job of 'Store Item In Hospital.' What's going on and can I fix it? Or should I leave the Hospital-That-Never-Was and keep it as some kind of bizarre tradition of leaving thread on the floor of this 3x3  room?

I've just had a random dorf found dead. There was a long trail of blood from the corpse to a spot on a very busy tunnel. Nothing comes up under the Justice tab. The fuck could have happened?
I had this once after the humans sent a demon diplomat to my fort. The "extract" he trailed around the map caused people (especially unclothed people) to bleed to death.

So I'd say you've got a contaminent on your map, probably from a Forgotten Beas or a Demon, and your poor dwarf walked through it.

Nick
Hmm, I haven't come across a FB yet, but I did get the first dwarfen caravan.

Since web FB's have been fixed, how dangerous are they?

A tantrum spiral after my first ambush that lowered my fortress' population from 180 to 6. I only managed to survive as the six that were left were the newest migrants, and didn't have any friends. Another migrant wave helped with the cleanup afterwards.

Fort was eventually abandoned after I got bored with the last siege, which left around 5 goblins sitting outside my entrance.

DF Gameplay Questions / Cavern Water.

After having several forts die horrible damp deaths after not fully understanding water pressure, I want to ask; Is cavern water pressurized?

I think that 'Caught in a cloud of boiling magma' is just a stock message for cave-in dust.

So far, I've only had the one siege, and all they brought was one beak dog.

I'll copy my save and check legends.

EDIT:
Leader of the goblins is a different goblin to the one who's bone is taking up space in my refuse pile. The goblin in my refuse pile, Stozu Nokutmato was the general of the Goblin Civ up until the year before the siege.

Usefully, duplicating my save pointed out that there's atleast one ambush on my map, since apparently Goblin's overran my fortress.

DF Gameplay Questions / Bones.

In my corpse, refuse and gibs stockpile I have a goblin bone, shown as a 'g' which is flashing. Since the only other times I've seen flashing items is when they're either on fire (Which I'm sure it isn't since it isn't a !!Urist McGoblin Bone!!), A forgotten beast (Which it also isn't, unless it was a very dissapointing FB)  or having a legendary skill. Does this mean that this particular Former-goblin used to have a legendary skill in something?

Suffering from a tantrum spiral after surviving my first ambush.

: ' (

trap-lined spiral staircase with a 25 z-level drop killed off the invaders, and killed one unfortunate dorf who dodged a berserk smith.

How useful would an Electrum Warhammer be?

I've just had a dwarf make one through a strange mood.

Even if it's not that good, I'm glad because I now have a legendary weaponsmith.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Weird/Useful Artifacts
« on: August 28, 2011, 04:42:19 pm »
This reminds me of an artifact I got on my cavern fortress:

My only miner was attacked by an elk bird and sustained a rather big cut to his leg. He crawled to the hospital and laid there for at least a year before getting his mood, he crawled to the craftsdwarf workshop, gathered up the bones of the elk bird that injured him and made an elk bird crutch. The doctor finally diagnosed him, gave him his artefact crutch and the miner waltzed out of the hospital and carried on mining where he left off.

A berserk weaver who I trapped in a corridor, has just given birth.

She prompted to then hack the baby to death with a copper battleaxe.

I'm not too sure but you might be able to make a custom stockpile for just stone crafts.
