Whether it's happy is yet to be seen. Relic isn't involved and there's already been one godawful in-name-only cash grab game.

Color me heavily fucking skeptical. Crowdfunding, not the original studio, and they've soiled the name with one shitty cash-grab already.

There were letters on the numbers in the rotary phone days. This is because, before area codes, the country was divided into named telephone exchanges - BEechwood or MOhawk for example. This was done to make things easier to remember for people unused to memorizing long strings of numbers. So if, for example, you wanted to dial the very famous number "BEechwood 4-5789" (a hit song that was released shortly after the exchange system was abolished), you would dial 2345789, as "2" was "ABC" and 3 was "DEF". The use of them for advertising and such was an adaptation of what was already there.
And likely successful because they kept right on printing 3-letter strings next to numbers on pad phones and cell phones right up into the early smartphone era. My prepaid flip-phone that I got last year still has them. The practice of "word" advertising numbers is dying out not only because of a decline in the use of calls but because so many people don't use a phone with a physical keypad at all.

I usually just level pistols and carry a holstered handcannon for things like shockers.

Some dumbass managed to rear-end me while we were both stopped at a red light, but there was no damage at all.

Well, last time I ate at Taco Bell, I nearly died of food poisoning. The times before that the tortillas tasted like they were wrapped in plastic, the meat had a in-the-fridge-for-a-week waxy greasiness, and the vegetables were simply missing.

When I said that Taco Bell food was borderline poison, I was speaking literal truth.

Okay, that's your experience. I've had that food probably many more times than you have, considering the fact that I like it and you're poisoned by it, and every time it's tasted acceptable and not poisoned me in any way.

It's anecdotal either way. Every time I've eaten at McDonalds they've given me raw meat. Doesn't mean every burger or nugget they serve is a manufacturing defect.

Just 'cause you don't like hard shell tacos doesn't mean they ain't real tacos.

Mind you, I much prefer a good ol' burrito anyhow.
They aren't. Real hard-shell tacos are fried *after* filling (and sealed), and are then softened with another liquidish food on a plate. The only authentic dish with pre-fried shells I know of are tostadas, which are flat.

Not to mention that the hard taco shells are absolute ass for filling with anything even remotely authentic. They're used in Taco Bell &c. because they're fast, cheap, and easy, especially when combined with cheap shredded cheese and ground beef.

It really ought to be 'Spider's Hemolymph'.

I think I've got a bit of a crush on Maria Franz, a female singer for Heilung. While doing some Googling I found a different group she's been in and a track they did. I quite enjoy it.
I prefer her work with Heilung, but this isn't bad at all.

Came in this morning and found that someone had stashed a bunch of phone-sex pamphlets back in the stacks. Dunno why they even bothered advertising the line when their emphemera were booklets of glossy full-color hardcore porn.

In escort missions, how do you convince that last bastard vehicle that the mission is done: all hostiles are dead, and they can follow you across the map already so we can all go home?

I've run everyone to the exit point, I've run back to join the vehicle, I've run someone behind it. It won't budge. Has the AI gotten even worse since I played this last?

Escort AI pathing breaks occasionally. Make sure you have a 'mech close to them or they won't move (which can be nice if you don't want them to sprint through a firefight). If they're getting stuck trying to enter the evac zone you're straight fucked and will need to enable the debug menu to force-complete the mission.

Do you have instructions or link for debug mode?
Here ya go.

Yeah, we're talking about a society where engineering a primitive telegraph and clay jar batteries drew worldwide attention. They were so primitive that they basically just shrugged and accepted encountering a (fairly) strong AI and the half-ruined old colony ships in orbit as another day.

In fairness though, they mostly lived in caves because they didn't have architectural knowledge good enough or a non-agricultural workforce large enough to build Thread-proof stone structures for everyone, not because they couldn't build stuff at all.

?

Been away from the CDDA community for a while. When I logged into the discourse site some days ago the first thing I saw was a locked flame thread. The project leader cares too much about people's opinion about the game and tries to engage any "criticism". And this attitude affects the general players to some extend.

He meant the literal piles of ingame shit, not the shitfit kevin throws whenever someone doesn't yes-man hard enough for his liking.

TBH if they didn't do multiplayer I wouldn't even consider buying. I lived for 100+ player siege servers on Warband.

Fair -- I didn't read a lot of her more obscure stuff (non-mainline Pern stuff included) for good reason, so I may well have missed that. No regrets there.
