DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / martial stances.

so i just had my first martial stance, and it was friggin awesome...

a novice speardwarf was the first to arrive at my first siege of 3 groups of goblin spearmen...she immediately entered a martial stance and offed/injured several goblins, one of them being pushed just short of 20 spaces back, the rest ran away when they saw the rest of my meager militia (all of 12 other dwarves >.>)

so, what exactly guys, are your best martial stances?

so...this is the first time a...semi-megabeast? showed up on a fort of mine...i usualy get wiped out within the first few years either by failed moods or me being an idiot when goblins siege/ambush me, this fort, i decided to play it smart...as soon as i saw the warning that baci mosleocade tuthiomo showed up on my map, i set both of my militia squads after him (one is a squad with 2 speardwarves, 2 axe dwarves, 2 swords dwarves and a hammer dwarf, the other..doesnt matter cuz they didnt show up before baci got killed >.>)

so i unpaused, and watched baci advance towards my fort, and the hammer dwarf in my militia, domas arrived first, followed by the two sword dwarves and a spear dwarf, my hammer dwarf was the only one injured, and honestly im quite glad that the two sword dwarves and spear dwarves arrived, not sure who got the kill though...

the minotaur died quite easily (kinda dissapointing for my first semi-megabeast...) but i noticed something when i went to loot his corpse, he had no clothes, but there was a claimed pair of giant cave spider silk trousers on the same tile as the dead body...and i took the time to read the minotaurs name in english i guess?

baci smutsword the sable roar...

now...sable is brown, so, his name is baci smutsword the brown roar really...and my hammer dwarf is the only one hurt...and his pants are on the ground...i REALLY dont wanna think of what would have happened if the sword dwarves and spear dwarf hadnt arrived so quickly...

paused the game so that i could take a screenshot of this...dumas is the dwarf between the shrub and what i assume to be a recruit, i've unpaused it now and dumas is taking pretty damn slow to get back to the fort, he takes a few steps, then stops...

alright, dumas has arrived at the hospital and he has been diagnosed...both of his arms were smashed open, for a few seconds there, i was like "oh thats not so bad..." then i got a bit of fridge horror, smutsword broke dumas's arms, then tore off his pants...i..i think that those two sword dwarves might been to be made into militia captains for preventing what i assume was attempted minotaur on dwarf rape

DF Gameplay Questions / brewer not brewin

so...whenever i tell my brewer to make alcohol, i get the error that there is no empty barrels...i JUST watched a friggin dwarf haul a brand spankin new barrel into the leather depot right next to my still, i checked it, and it had absolutely nothing in it...what the hell is going on -.-;;

alright, sorry if this has been asked before, i tried searching and...got lazy.

so, i started a fort, and it had a whole bunch of hematite, so i liked it, unfortunately, i caused a cave in when digging a well, and caused several of my dwarves to die. i abandonned after i saw they were dead because this was the original group of 7.

I reclaimed the fort after a few other attempts to find a place as good as that one, and after a little while, several ghosts popped up, i've made a decently sized mausoleom(for multiple dwarves) and unforbid their corpses, which was a pain to find...my dwarves for some reason, wont go and take them to the coffins, and the engrave memorial slab option has no names listed...what do i do >.< its making all my other dwarves sad
