Leather-tooth Wardogs cannot pierce leather-armored goblins.

Even if they can, just use, I don't know, COPPER weapons made of kobolnite?

Did you remember to turn on the Mining labors?

EDIT of memory: If you did, turn them off and on again. If you use Dwarf Therapist, turn the labors on and off on the game, not on Therapist.

On a side note, was I the only one who noticed that Dwarf Therapist can be misread from a distance for Dwarf, The Rapist?

Set paths that dwarves use a lot to "High Traffic" to reduce pathfinding , bury those corpses(or cremate them in the sea of magma), smelt that goblinite, murder take your useless nobles to the Magma Sea Surf Resort, disable hauling labors of skilled dwarves and add those to unskilled dwarves to reduce pathfinding as well.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Obsidian Casting, the "Right" Way?

I actually cheated my way into infinite obsidian in Minecraft and made a huge, totally awesome castle in the sky. There was a tower on the ground level call "Darkstone Tower", as it is in the Might and Magic: World of Xeen game. Then I made a 3x3 vertical corridor(that is a hollow 9x9 block with a ladder inside) all the way to the said Darkstone Keep, which was a small fort with rooms, etc. The only problem was that every time I made a mistake I had to wait 30 seconds for the bloody diamond pick to mine the obsidian.

...the only things I can think after writing this are "Wow, that's sure nerdy" and "Cool story, bro".

Anyway, build a fort of doom or something in the line of that :)

Some nobles such as the baron, the count, the duke and the monarch have a [LAZY] tag that prevents them from doing any work.

Still you will have dwarves that do absolutely nothing skulking around the fort making demands of slade crowns and such.

I say give'em the old, warm, fuzzy embrace of magma.

When the outpost liason asks who do you wanna promote, just promote your worst dwarf(the hauler that was once a novice cheesemaker and has NO social skills at all). He'll probably feel really happy with all the power he got. Then he will be dead.

Keeping nobles happy...which makes YOU unhappy. So, no. Since lazy, idiotic nobles are no good at all at the moment, when they issue that a dwarf is to be hammered 'til death, fling them in the old Pit o'Doom.

If they're valuable, then just keep them. It you hinder the fort, but its better than having loads of !!FUN!! with a forgotten beast that savaged the fort.

Or you can make those dwarves fortress guards. They will never catch law infractors :P

Armok doesn't bleed. That's why he demands blood.

Put the dizzy dwarves into a small chamber, wash with magma. magma is a wonderful disinfectant/antibacterial agent.

Should have expected this. You ask something on this forum, first answer is bound to include MAGMA as an answer.

So, does anyone has a constructive answer ?

Construct a magma shower. Pump the magma to a Z level up, and release when the dwarf is under it.

You forgot to mention that the beard parasite was actually made by elves in an attempt to genocide short humans. Of course, that turned to themselves. Now the bearded dwarves fling elves in magma pits as a offering to short-sized gods.

If I drop someone down a pit (the hostile in question) will it count as an accident (like in hitman? :P) or will the dwarf that dragged the hostile to the pit be marked as a hostile?
