Figured that would get your attention.
Anyways, I am living the surface dwarf lifestyle while I take a break from my stressful 'main' fortress, just seeing how long I can survive without precious commodities such as walls, stone, or an end of the world machine. Right now I'm trying to design a decent uniform for the military. Nothing over the top, I'm not a fan of stacking 30 breastplates onto one dwarf, just something that, in my mind's eye, doesn't look retarded. I opted for a combination of Bone and Leather armor.
Leather leather armor [wut]
Leather cloak
Bone Helm
Leather hood
Bone Greaves
Bone Gauntlets
Leather high boots
shield
training spear [i wish I could make bone spears, but alas.]
Anyways, while in my head this looks neat, the problem I'm having is about assigning the bone impliments. I understand that they are considered 'metal' as far as uniforms go, but I fear this will conflict with the fact that I don't want to use -actual- metal. Since, instead of ''bone helm'' I have to choose ''metal helm'', how will I solve the issue that I'm sure will pop up the second I stab a goblin to death to was wearing a copper helmet? Is there a way to assign them bone specifically without having to actually choose the individual helmet? My experienced with that ended up assigning the same Silver Scourge to four different dwarves, and not knowing it at first.
Second, thoughts on my uniform? Anything I can add, you think, without it seeming like my dwarves are wearing eighty-three different animals in breastplates alone?
