Oh fie, another 'improvement' by the google-youtube hybrid (yougle? gootube?). Every change increases my irritation with them.

The slightly-off doctor who doubles as a butcher in his spare time. More concerned with !!science!! than dwarven life. My operating table may or may not be the same device on which I slaughter domestic animals.

Creative Projects / Re: L4D + TF2 + GMOD = ???

I'm certain that L4D uses a completely different form of enemy behavior. There's no easy way to get the infected in. You could probably get a 'running zombie' mod, though. TF2 weapons mods exist too, I remember using them at one point...

...although I've been having so much fun failing at this I just about forgot what my original aim was.
May I sig this? it describes so much of my modding experience.

Edit:
No, the sensible thing to do would be to mod males to not have eyes in the first place. The beard should more then compensate.

Oh dear, I've got a long list. Mostly anxiety-related.

- I seem to have phobophobia. For instance, I can't watch horror movies because I'm afraid that I'll be frightened, but if I do, I'm actually rarely startled more than anyone else.

- I have a really good memory, am very anxious, terribly obsessive, and tend to think fatalistically. Thus, I often think of horrible, worst-case-scenario results to mundane things, and can't manage to forget about them for long periods of time.

- On a related note, I often have irrational fears that, while in the midst of them, I realise that they're ridiculous and have a (usually silent) argument with myself between my rational side and my somewhat crazy side. The latter usually wins until after the fact.

- I absolutely HATE touching anything that's not a smooth surface. If I do, I can't stop feeling it, even several minutes afterward, until I go wash my hands for an extended period of time.

- I tend to absentmindedly multitask and get little done with anything sometimes. For instance, I was recently browsing these forums, playing Garry's Mod and DF, writing a text adventure in C++, and performing maintenance on my other computer at the same time.

- If I'm reading, I'll occasionally try to remember what was said a page or so earlier. I absolutely must know (and memorize) exactly what was written there, and I go back several times to check. It's rarely relevant either, just a sentence or phrase, never a whole concept.

I have most of my coworkers' network passwords and I read their emails.
I'd really like to do this. So many people at my school seem to have really obvious passwords. I've been contemplating writing a program that would login to the webmail, get addresses, and plug them in with the passwords 12345 and password. It would then access each account that accepted either of those passwords and send out an email to everyone else with the heading "I should change my password to something less obvious". Think of it as a... public service.

I've got the Overseer starting up fine in Wine on Linux, and the Windows version of DF is running with it (in Wine as well). However, Overseer doesn't detect it. How does it look for the DF process?

Mint's basically Ubuntu for most purposes. On the other hand, now it doesn't work at all after the first time. Just connecting indefinitely.

Life Advice / Re: Different OSs
« on: July 12, 2011, 11:55:47 am »
I use Linux but prefer Mac over PC because it's much more secure. With windows, you can get a virus just from visiting a webpage. With Mac, if you do end up getting a virus (MacDefender is notable recently, but they rarely come up), you have to install it yourself.

I do some gaming; TF2, Portal 2, etc, but I hear that you can get most games to work on WINE with a little fiddling around, as well as steam-- albeit a little laggy. I'm planning to get steam running on my Linux partition, but for now I just boot into Win7 if I want to play a game. Anything else (programming, surfing the web, any windows programs that will run on Linux), I use linux for.

EDIT: Indeed, Linux can game.

Finally got SS to build correctly on Mint, but it causes DF to be extremely slow, and the visualizer itself is rather laggy. I can hear the sound stuttering too. Is anyone else having that problem?

DF Modding / Creating Ununoctium
« on: July 12, 2011, 08:18:01 am »
I want to make a custom large hadron collider workshop that takes two pitchblende, then explodes and leaves you with an ununoctium bar-- which is incredibly dense, of course, and the ability to make an ununoctium warhammer would be rather... amusing. I've got no idea how to go about this, though, are there any tutorials that I should take a look at, providing this is possible?
