Armok! I just scrolled through her bio in legends mode.
That MINOR vampire. Not only she killed my one dwarf Zotir Shadoweconqueror (such a wasteful name), but check her kill list:

My bad. She did not have thoughts on drink, but only food.
Going to go through legends

Ok, she starved to death  ::)
But, it's strange.
1) She took joy in slaughter lately (no kills list)
2) Lots of family members who are not at the fort
3) Member of various factions, including ones with evil names
4) She was weargin bone crown, bone earings and bone rings
5) DwarfTherapist could not recognize her name

Could she starve to death because of lack of blood? She also never mentioned being thirsty.
Also she was drowsy.
Do i still have a vampire roaming around?

Sup forum
Ok, playing for the first time MASTERWORK Dwarf fortress, and encountered a strange thing.
First of all, every migrant goes through basic vampire check by looking into his/her age. So far, zero encounters of vampires. However, after one year without any migrants [You fort did not attract any migrants this season], a dwarf has been found dead drained of blood. Looking through 'U' list of all the dwarves one by one in their thoughts, I found one peculier dwarf. She had thoughts on drinking and she owns her own bedroom. On the other hand, NONE of her family is at the fortress; and she took joy in slaughter lately, eventhough she has no kill list.
So, my question is: Is that a bug, or Masterwork's vampires can claim rooms and have thoughts on drinking.
PS going to lock her in room for a while for observing the thoughts
PPS DwarfTherapist shows different name for that dwarf
PPPS She got hungry while standing in the walled-in room. On the other side, she is a former member of groups such as: 'Gem of terror' , 'Immortal Demon', 'Devil of Twhirling' etc.
Damn I'm discombobulated

Ok, I got an idea.
You now cage traps will trigger if FB or Clown will fall on it unconscious or immobile; hence, using GCS webs has been the best solution so far? However, I find the thing with capturing and then provoking GCS too much hastle. Here I am proposing a better solution which only involves pressurized water.

oo+oooooo
o^+ . . X # o k
o^+ . . X # o k
o^+ . . X # o k
o^+ . . X # o k

. - open space
o - walls
+ - floor
^ - cage traps
X - Floodgates
k - Levers
# - pressurized water

So, when a FB gets in this narrow corridor, drawbridges(not drawn) trap him.
Then on the opposite side, a lever is pulled that opens a certain FloodGate, shooting pressurized water at target, knocking him down on the cage trap.

QUESTION: Will it work? Would someone be willing to test it?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Dramatic book-like adventure
« on: November 25, 2011, 06:54:01 am »
Hello, forum.
I have started this adventurer, not hoping for much. But he turned out to have such a dramatic adventure, that I am just in need of sharing it with the world.
He survived attack of the boogeymen who made him blind and were ready to shred him to pieces when sunrise dawned. Leaving him blind and bleeding. But not only he stayed alive but also continued his journey. After becoming legendary mace dwarf, he took group of 6 peasants on adventure to the ice-desert, half of which was a terrfying biome. In the end of expediture there were only three humans left. Then they found cave (with only two humans remaining). He spent couple of days there with some epic dramatic fight and scary moment. I thought that I would never find my way up, but when I put him to sleep, it teleported me outside of the CAVE! It was only my adventurer and human (whose left hand was missing), surrounded by skeletons of reptile-men.(On the surface). I do not know how they got there.
So, question:
Do you want me to write the story in details? What do you think, forum?

My tactic is simple when fighting humans.
1) Check in which hand is his main weapon
2) Bite this hand (not arm)
3) Shake it unitll it remains in your mouth.
4) ...
5) PROFIT

well, then i improvize. But dont forget to throw it out of your mouth first

True  :(
I thought those Gods were randomly generated, not just names. Well, in any way his statue is located at the Trade Depot. Shows message to the hippies.

I think the screenshot would be lovely though :]

By the way, you could check gamelog.txt in main folder of the game, I'm pretty sure entries aren't rewritten there at any case.

Ok, now I am perplexed. I have looked through gamelog.txt (Did not know this thing existed), and did not find ANY info on that particular ghostly dwarf. I have looked through his killer and no mention of fight within gamelog.txt. How is it possible???
