Pass Placement and Action phases.

Edited because I can't move. I can't do a damn thing. Sigh.

197
Well, I do believe I shall pass the Placement and Action Phases!
Unless something happens.

198
Varian smiled as he picked up the ebony pawn.

"Yes this will do, his name is Ustuth Menglek. Born to loving parents safe and sound within the walls of Stormrivet, he displayed an aptitude for magic at an early age. Since this is somewhat rare in dwarves he was given the finest education, whatever he needed to progress in his craft. The fell mood took him on the cusp of the disaster. As other dwarves panicked fled and burned to death in the volcanic eruption that destroyed their precious fortress, Ustuth was gathering materials and bringing them back to his workshop.

The madness of dwarfkind never left Ustuth. And while his project is completed, he labors still in the depths. Undead workers tend the crops and maintain the fortress deeps where Ustuth lives. One day he shall be free."

Varian dramatically placed the token in the depths of the ruins of Stormrivet, marvelling as his hand passed through seemingly solid material.

199
"My party shall be the dwarven necromancer. As you can see the madness that infects dwarven kind from time to time has taken solid root in his mind. No longer shall he be shackled by the taboos of his people.

Stormrivet will rise again, as a Dark Citadel. Here shall he rule, against all comers.
So that would mean I suppose, that the necromancer survives, is no longer trapped within, and has a modest force of undead at his command."

So thats 3 for the dwarven ruins then? The wager is of course power, and default rules? 5 go in, 3 come out?

201
"I'd say the dwarven fortress honestly. None of us having any particular stake there, and no reason to seek revenge should things go awry for our interests."

202
So yeah. Me and Cript are down for a Power game. Anyone else in? You gotta risk yourself sometime.

203
Admittedly us potentially getting knocked out of the game is the risk. But its not as though we cant have some turnover of characters. Also, lets risk it. Cmon! Are you so attached to a character you've barely used?

Also yeah, what else could we wager? I mean, if we could go on adventures (tiny blurbs of us gaining a cool thing that might help us in a Game or can be put up as a potential wager), or suchlike. But yeah, we dont have much here.

204
"And I am Varian d'Avistral. Tis a pleasure most certainly.

As regards wagering the power I just claimed... that is why I am willing to cast it aside quickly. Else I'll become frightened and afraid of what comes after it is gone. However I accept your wager, and will even sweeten it by saying you shall not be required to expend all of your power in our service."

205
Varian smiles at the older man. "Your companion was kind enough to introduce herself, so why not you? And do you drink good sir? This bottle is rumored to be an excellent vintage."

Watching the board change, Varian d'Avistral sat. Presented with the same images regarding the wager, Varian spoke with confidence.

"I have always been a gambling man. What I just won shall 'ride' as they say. I'll wager power, if any of you will do the same we can discuss what the game shall be."

206
Calling back to the others in the other room
"I say this is fascinating! Come down here and look. Are these your people Valer? Magnificent! So lifelike!"

207
Well in the meantime Inspect the Great Game Board
Screw everything else, I want exposition!

208
Varian d'Avistral smiled as he stood, feeling a full decade younger. After helping his companions to their feet, he slipped a rather large corked bottle from his rucksack. Placing it with reverence upon the granite altar he spoke with his two companions.

"Pinched this off that kingly fellow just before he got through the traps. Figure we earned ourselves a bit of a celebration. Heres to Salus, the dead god of the Dead. And heres to what his passing gave us. Now I didnt bring any glasses, and I'm not sure if Magmanarian's even drink...But  I suppose the gesture counts?"

209
I'll admit, I like both those current rule changes. I think factions werent nearly as played in the initial round as they could have been, since you needed A) The faction, b) 6 cards to discard, c) A control card and 1 other card to discard. Sure they were powerful, but this way they'll see a lot more play.

Also, the goal of Varian d'Avistral? I'll have to consider this. But what comes next! Do we..play the Great Game?
