Yeah, only single unit types,with a relevant ability you'd want on your hero, should be promotable. So you'll proly have to keep that in mind price-tag wise.
Should work out though, not that -I- want to combine casters with heroes , just curious if others could, should the mood take them.

Saaayyyy ..I'm recruiting a Sorcerer this turn, Could I at some later point, pay the hero recruiting fee, to promote him to hero? Or would I have to grab a hero first, then promote to Sorcerer?

So we research into Organized Religion, set up our god/goddess, and then based on that, we get some special units most like, yes? (That improve as bigger, grander temples are built)

The northern provinces have a fairly relaxed religious sect, worshipping multiple gods of the original pantheon (whatever that Pantheon is..) Of course the Orcs hold true to their worship of Giirvak.
