"Nothing springs immediately to mind, Emperor. I am more than ready to begin this war."

Derahoc grinned. They just ate up his words and concerns like he was an old and trusted friend. He could go far, he was sure.

"I have no doubt we shall be successful. The only matter in question is the cost. But we shall ensure that no Hadrian life is wasted unnecessarily. I concur, sweeping North to South will be the ideal campaign path to take."

Attend the War Council at Fort Solon.
----
Several days after the Senate meeting, at Fort Solon.

Derahoc Astralis was munching loudly on an apple and pouring over what maps of Whitepeak they had. He had been doing it for several hours in private. His first command would not be a disappointment.

"Well. Not much can really be said of plans or of necessary tactics without more information about the enemy. But we can surmise that they don't have the strength to match us in the field, hence their confederacy. A quick march on each successive city should prevent them from rallying their forces to deal us any serious blow. This should be a campaign of speed.  We will have to be aware of the possibility that they'll try to use the terrain against us, but I believe there are no major ambush spots that they can use against us.

A simple campaign. Legio I advances supported by Legio II and III. The only danger is that they out maneuver us and attempt to dispatch the Legions of myself and Senator Marcus Julius. I have doubts that such a plan will save them from their inevitable defeat but may serve to weaken the Empire in the long run."

Derahoc unfolded himself from his chair, speaking to address the entire senate.

"Your proposal is foolish indeed Crassius. The populace will march to war regardless of what you decide to push in terms of proposals. We must keep in our minds the ...nature of those beneath us. They will weigh us down for decades with false claims to further their own greed. Perhaps men will 'die' in battle, yet return hale and hearty and draw a wage at whatever job, plus whatever benefits your proposal would hand out.

We need not bribe them, or pander to them. By all means provide for them out of your own purse should you ever be appointed governor. But there is no way I, or I think any others outside your own faction will support your attempts to provide wealth to your fellow plebians by funneling it directly from the Empire's coffers.

Insofar as the Whitepeak alliance, yes. I must agree with my esteemed colleague Flavius. Clearly their acts must not go unpunished. If we do not answer this clear threat obviously they will attract more into their so called confederation. Or seize lands that are better used by the Empire. Better to strike now in the infancy of this rebellion and make it clear that we shall not back down when a paltry force is raised against us. We are an Empire, and an Empire must look to its borders for new lands to conquer, when all sits well within."

Derahoc was lounging across his seat. Listening intently to the other senators argue, while munching quietly on small fruits.
Not time to speak yet, let them keep talking.

Name: Derahoc of the house Astralia.
Gender: Male
Race: Human.
Bio and so forth!: Standing at 190 cms, Derahoc is a tall lithe human. Some suspect his ancestry includes elven blood, but he will cheerfully disabuse you of that notion. He is scarcely into his 20's, but was well trained in the backbone of war by a succession of tutors hired by his father who intended to sculpt him into a general and orator for the Republicans. The second his father was dead and his own position in the Senate was secure, he repositioned himself into the Imperialist faction in order to advance more quickly, throwing his skills behind the newest Emperor.
Thought by many of his peers to be quite ruthless, he will stop at nothing to heap achievements before the feet of the Emperor in order to increase his own standing. He still deals with the occasional lingering accusation that his fathers death was not peaceful.

Skills: Logistics (1) , Charisma (1).
Political Alignment: Imperialist

I only have 1 brigand, I believe I lost one during the fighting.
Plus, I had 2 regulars, +1 Regular =3 regs. So 3 regs, 2 bards, 3 apprentices, 1 brigand.
----
Turn Orders
Personal Research: Walls
1 Brigand trains 1 Regular.
3 Apprentices , 2 Regulars, + Cloaks, Hit Caravan.
2 Bards construct a Treasury (underground if I can) for 15 resources (30 if I cant)

Hire 1 Regulars.

((Technically if you want to be paranoid as hell, you'd never work with us. This turn you'd only have Odahviing and his minions to face, in a backstab situation. But next turn i'd be there too, adding another roll to cripple or kill you.

But im pushing teamwork IC. Teamwork goddamnit!))

579
((I want the zombies with us too. Between your staff, Dragor's arm, both your minions, and some zombies we should be more than capable. Otherwise i'm not really able to assist much. Blood != what we need here, so minions are the best way I can throw in some help.

You and Odahviing could go right now for a pretty decent chance. Might lose some minions but we can replace those.))

580
((Then you're low on options. But as a long term plan, I want to seize the zombies, then use them to distract the golem while one of you Bone guys takes over the Golem. So..work in a way that helps me with that? I dunno.))

581
((Scrying pool, You could locate the nightmare herd, or the zombies and give that information to Isinath, who would CHEERFULLY go out there to seize those assets for the tower's good. Or raise minions from isinaths skeleton pile. Or hell, if you're ballsy go challenge the Bonerage golem and see if you can dominate it, or clear it out. Removing it proly gives us access to more catacombs.))

582
((I..thought we had an enchanted pantry that supplies food for up to 1000 minions + us))

583
Gesture at Odahviing
"He lost his arm to some zombies, so we know theres a horde of them out there. I didnt even suggest you meander out there alone. I suggested you find out what is out there. There is a difference between riding blindly into the field, and gathering some intelligence. And unarmed? Hah! You have servants -and- a staff. You are far from defenseless.

Instead, you wish to use only a FEW of our assets. The library, the manaforge..Well if you continue like that, yes you will consistently be blocked as others need to use those same resources. And no, You would not be defending yourself. You threatened me with magic first. Odahviing interceded on my behalf. Teamwork."

584
"No need to fight. I need the library to research something that has occurred in the field. To help one of us. Stories are full of lone necromancers dying. We can beat those odds by working as a team.

And should you tear him down, you'll be the aggressor and you'll be the one with no friends here. We've ALL been blocked from the library. Max used her golem to prevent my access once. Why dont you go use the scrying pool? Find another town so we can use what little treasure I scavenged from the catacombs to expand our library. Or raise some of the skeletal remains I found. Since you obviously helped yourself to them previously."

"As far as what happened..well, Max may have cursed or blessed the graves we dug for her village. A curse might be bad news down the road."

Isinath uses the library to conduct studies on curses or blessings that may have been triggered on the buried corpses. If that goes swiftly, general death magic studies to finish the day

585
Isinath almost bowled right over Odahviing when he hurried into the tower, intent on reaching the library.

"Oh. Sorry. Need library. Research."
