"Doren, yer ca' ov duty is ere. Some wolves arrived jus' a lil while ago. I' isn't a good idea t' leave em runnin around, what with the dwarv'n caravan coming soon." Said the militia captain.
I waited for him to finish before grabbing my cobalt handaxe and iron breastplate, and saying "Aye, Sir! Wheres the gatherin point?"
He pulled out an old map, and pointed at the bridge, a new adition. It had been scrawled on with coal.
"Okay!" And with that, I ran out the door, nearly hurting a few with my reckless abandon.


I waited with the others for what seemed like forever, the only noise being a random cricket and the twang of a crossbow firing one of the standard issue bone bolt's. The silence seemed like a void, filling all around me. It was choking me. just making me wish to howl. But I held firm, as I wasn't about to let those wolfies know we were here.
Out of the blue, the axedwarf next to me whispered "Hey, you know your lucky getting that breastplate. The majority of the soldiers here don't even have any armor. I mean, all I have is a shield and a pair of greaves."

I shuddered. being sent up against goblins, demons, trolls, kobolds, centuars, and god knows what else, without even a good set of armor on you? Horrible. Despicable. The mere thought of-
"CHARGE!" Yelled the militia commander.
every dwarf there yelled so loud it would make Armok's beard tingle, and started running at the glint of Wolf eyes.
I was fist in line to meet one. They were bigger up front, like a bastard child of a giant and a wolf. It didn't bother me. I just swung my axe as hard as I could. To my surprise, where his head was there was now a fountain of blood as he slumped to the floor. I then engaged two more, walking towards what seemed to be the leader. Two more down, both having one arm and one leg removed. I moved forward again, facing one again. I could hear the clatter of multiple metals against wolf claw behind me, and heard more than one pained howl, both wolf and dwarf. Yet still, I cleaved onwards, killing many a wolf as I inched closer to the leader.

He howled, seemingly as a challenge, and darted towards me. he smashed into me, and we fell back into a ball. In this state, I was as likely to cut off my own head as I was his, so I scrambled to untangle myself. He, instead, opted to try to pin me down. Two wolves deviated from the main battle to help him, but they both fell before my axe. I then kicked him in the gut, propelling him into the air and giving me time to hop up. We both stood standing, as the noise behind me died down.  It seemed at he and three wolves were all that were left. He charged, and he clawed. one of his sharpest claws hit me right on my wrist, cutting it clean off. With his other paw, he grabbed my neck and lifted me up into the air. Three times ge strangled my neck before I raised my axe high. Higher then ever before. High enough to pierce the heavens above. And then I brought it down, hitting him flat on the head.

The explosion of gore was remarkable, but did nothing to ease the pain and blood loss from my lost hand. I shifted in and out of consciousness, as my allies killed the last werewolf. He had grabbed a shield from a fallen soldier, and was blocking many an attack. But he did not expect a hit from behind. I  pulled out, aimed and fired my emergency bow as I could in my daze, and the arrow found its target. it jammed into his Achilles heel, causing him to stumble and fall. the other dwarves used this as an opportunity to cleave off many a limb, and cause him to die a horrible, bloody death.

It felt good to help in deaths throes. the blood from my lost hand was pooling, and at least half of it was gone. As I drifted out of consciousness for the last time, I saw the soldier who I had talked to earlier. He rushed over to me, and I saw he was missing a finger. He said to me in a calming voice "Your gonna be okay... your gonna be okay." he then cupped his hands and yelled "DOCTOR!" as loud as he could. it was heartwarming, to say the least. but it was to late. I expelled my last breath, and was gone.
