Curses / Page down not working in LCS

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Are there known fixes?

I know the key isn't broken; it works fine for other applications.

I needed to talk about this somehow and this was the only place I could think of. Darn, violates forum guidelines. Should have read those first. I apologize.

Thanks guys, I got it. Actually I did it before on the old version but forgot how and couldn't find where it said, so I don't feel bad for posting this thread.

Which brings me to my original question: how do I run dwarf fortress on mac? I'm talking about the mac one.

It's not working in WINE. Maybe I have an old version or something? I downloaded the new one for mac today and can't get it to run.

How do you do it? I feel pretty dumb for even asking but I'm not sure what to do. Sorry if someone asked this already but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Hopefully in the future we can code in racism to avoid the conquered civ ending up dominating it's conquerors from the inside. Otherwise the immortal races will invariably overtake races that die of old age

[historynerd]

Technically the conquered dominating the conqueror has a lot of historical precedent.  The Chinese, for example, had several dynasties in which they were ruled by foreign powers, but they still massively outnumbered and eventually "outcultured" their conquerors, more or less turning them into Chinese rather than Mongols or Manchus or whathaveyou doing the opposite.

[/historynerd]

Sometimes racism has kept the conquered from dominating the conqueror.  I was specifically thinking of the Spartans, whose slaves vastly outnumbered them (something like 15:1 IIRC).  They had to make themselves into incredibly fierce warriors because they were so afraid of a slave revolt.

Is cave adaption really permanent?
It seems to me that it isn't.  My military spent almost all their time indoors before being drafted, but after a few years of being stationed outdoors ~3/4 of the time they don't seem to be stunned or vomiting.
Maybe I just haven't caught them in the act.

I don't have the screenshots to prove it, but perhaps you can take my word.  I once had a fortress where pretty much everyone was cave adapted.  I built a meeting hall with wells and exposed the ceiling to sunlight (I also built a glass ceiling to keep unwanted stuff out).  For a long time, the floors were painted green.  After a good year or two, though, the vomit was not replaced, and dwarves were not seen being stunned in the meeting hall.  It wasn't sudden--over time more and more dwarves became irritated instead of nauseated until they were all comfortable.

Yeah that must've been it.  I did wall it off.  It's a shame because I managed to break down part of the wall but it still lags.  The fortress is dead now.

I recently opened up a demon pit and am suddenly experiencing serious lag.  I'm not exactly sure what's going on here--there are only six living dwarves (after one was killed by a spirit of fire).  It was running fine recently and I usually don't have trouble, even with over a hundred dwarves.  I'm not suddenly having trouble with other fortresses, either.

DF Bug Reports / Re: [39e] Cage trap shows loaded when not loaded

I know they're not trap immune.  The confusion was that the trap was still loaded even after they were caught.  The cage with them in it was visible, but it said the trap was still loaded until I unpaused.

This isn't actually a big deal because it only lasts for a split second, but I've been catching some goblin thiefs trying to snatch my dwarves with my cage traps.  At first I was confused, because it said "Snatcher! Protect the children!" but I didn't see any goblins or unloaded traps.  As soon as I unpaused, though, the trap changed to unloaded, so I realized what happened.

DF Gameplay Questions / strange status icon
« on: August 03, 2008, 01:11:13 pm »
I looked on the wiki for an explanation of this icon, but didn't find one.  It looks a lot like the tantrum icon, except it is upside-down.  The dwarf certainly doesn't seem to be tantruming, because he is ecstatic.  He's not being violent, either, just storing something.  Anyone know what this means?
