Rest in Peace, Monom Akruliden, Broker and Legendary Engraver of Boldropes/Murakgoden. You will be missed.

Monom was torn to shreds by a blind cave ogre. It tore his leg, and his arm off, punched him repeatedly, bruised his skull and more. Before he died - 'Severe Bleeding', 'Over exerted', 'pale', 'Ability to stand lost' and 'ability to grasp lost. He survived being strangled by the ogre for EIGHT PAGES STRAIGHT, passing out on the fifth of thirteen.

Thankfully he was avenged in spades, our blazingly quick commander with his two axes got there and SLOWLY OH SO SLOWLY dismembered the ogre toe by finger by arm by leg... Monom and Iteb were both friends and part of the original seven. :3
Hopefully Iteb doesn't freak out - he's clad in candy and has candy weapons. Legendary axedwarf and legendary dodger, too.

In other news, our miner/mayor narrowly avoided a fiery death when he accidentally breached the magma sea. Suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, he then forbade the export of socks.  :o
Found some more cottoncandy. Building a memorial to Monom, the fortress owes a lot to him.

[EDIT] Two more things. Siege- our legendary herbalist and an unlucky planter were the only casualties. The three squads ripped through the goblins and those that got through were shredded by weapon traps.  ;D
And the memorial to Monom reads surprisingly little... I wish it was like an engraving but with only entities relating to the deceased... All I got was 'Monom, creator of McArtifact,' / Lover of horses. Bit odd, you know?
But with the legendary herbalist gone, that's only 5 of the original seven remaining after 4 years game time.

Murakgoden has had a forgotten beast. First a bristleworm made from shell, which a legendary axedwarf took down with the aid of his (modded) pet cougar. One game year later, TWO forgotten beasts followed by a swamp titan. :S
The first was a chocolate termite with a trunk that breathed fire. I don't know if it was actually chocolate- but it died extremely quickly. Ebra Kunsangnosm lost a leg to a miller he ambushed. The miller SCRATCHED the leg and the severed part sailed off in an arc. I gave that miller a better room. :P
The same legendary axedwarf took one shot with his masterwork adamantine axe and his masterwork steel axe and cut it in half. Ebra did not get a single hit in on either dwarf- I think it tried to bite the miller who dodged it.

After that was Gulgun Taragoth, a red snail with rusty patchy feathers. It burps and belches. I had to beware its deadly spittle! This one was very slightly harder. Took two dwarves five seconds to chop it to bits. Forgotten Beast roast, anyone?
Revax (a dorfed friend) took her masterwork spear and sliced a wing off- crippling the beast until it couldn't fly. Then Iteb, the dual-wielding axe lord militia commander came and stole the kill. :P

Seconds after Gulgun Taragoth was defeated:
The Swamp Titan Ilan Resmipado Dungdarulak has come!  A towering feathered spider.  It has four long, straight horns and it has a regal bearing. Its dark scarlet feathers are downy.  Beware its poisonous bite!

I sent the entire military at it, burrowed the civilians and sealed the fortress's front doors. Murakgoden is more or less self sufficient now. Iteb the glory-seeking military commander got there first, what with his amazing agility. Iteb took one shot, cut off its third leg, rendering it PALE. It then charged at him, knocking him down roughly six times to his one attempt to attack. More or less like this:

Ilan took the longest yet. Pansy elves ran off. Iteb looked like he was going to get injured by a lucky shot from it- but his pet elephant came and diverted attention long enough to let Iteb get up and fight truly. The rest of the military decided now was a good time to sleep.

Revax almost got there though.

It's been an interesting few game years.

The Forgotten Beast "Niya Arepaata Thanethaliceyi" has come to Murakgoden! A great hairy bristleworm. It has a round shell and it undulates rhythmically. Its lemon hair is long and straight. Beware its deadly spittle!

First ever forgotten beast. He's just swimming around in the cavern. Thank goodness I didn't build a well. I have five legendaries in one squad. Population fifty. Thoughts? Just struck adamantine, am still outfitting military in adamantine armour and weapons.

[EDIT:] Niya chased a miner up and down the staircase, scaring the poor lad. An axedwarf in steel armour came and killed the forgotten beast- blocking the deadly spittle six times and dodging a seventh shot. He was then bitten on the lower lip. KISSED BY A FORGOTTEN BEAST. :O
He then promptly decapitated it.

MURAKGODEN/Boldropes fell recently, to an odd bug (?) where after a goblin ambush, my army turned on their friends and slaughtered the majority of the population. No tantrums, just ecstatic/content/happy soldiers beating their friends to death with socks. Most of them were about 50% bandage though- danger room training took a while. Anywho, i've just reclaimed Boldropes- it was going really well until the proverbial dung hit the spinning blades.

Now, i've spent an hour setting up stockpiles, assigning beds and watching the Idling counter stay on 0. It's gonna be a long cleanup.

DF Bug Reports / Re: [0.31.01] Military Bugs
« on: June 13, 2011, 09:25:40 am »
Had an odd bug. I'm still on 31.18 though, so it's probably fixed. Got two ambushes during a dwarven caravan. Sent in all squads (roughly twenty dwarves, all legendary in something). They ripped through the goblins, but then turned on each other. Checked their happiness, and they were all at least content. So, i don't know what happened. I noticed that when killed, their clothing and items were forbidden, as if they had become invaders. But it's odd... I don't know what caused it or how to reproduce it.

[EDIT] - Apparently it is caused by causing soldiers to attack merchants from your home civ. Marks you as both a member and an enemy of that civ- so you have a civil war. So it was merely my mistake. :P

Creaturebolt's good. A hydra showed up during a gobbo siege, tore the goblins to shreds and died from its wounds (well, died from a dabbling wrestler choking its one remaining head.)

Then, after that was successfully repelled, i got another siege. These gobbos arrived just in time for the elves to come for trading; all but one gobbo ran into a cage trap. The last gobbo attacked the elves and their horses- because i was biding my time the goblin managed to train up to Hammer Lord and then came and ripped my military to shreds. Damn hippies didn't fight back.
Thankfully i had one last trick up my sleeve. The 'Civilian Alert' burrow was surrounded on all sides by cage traps, so I lured the gobbo there and he got caught. Now I have a good thirty captured goblins. Unsure of what to do, personally.
