Generally, if you can see that the train is coming, the only way to stop it is to divert it, probably off the tracks, killing the people inside the train to save those outside.

Instead, what you must do, is to tell those in the path of the train to evacuate, and help them get out of the way. You should also ask the train to stop, because even if it can't, the deceleration would give at least a few extra seconds for those in front to escape.

If you know that a train is coming, but it is still far off, then it has space to stop itself if given a warning in advance. If it can't stop, then at least the others probably have plenty of time to leave.

Anything other than the train using it's own brakes would damage the train and probably harm/kill it's occupants, or would be ineffective, or would take too long to create.

The same chance of succeeding is not the same chance of having the effect you want. You could have the same chance of throwing a handful of dirt or a boulder, but what one do you think will have a greater chance of destroying a wall?

So what? Warcraft 3's editor was already extremely powerful, there is very little they could have done to make it better for starcraft 2. Maybe better support for keyboard input, though...

edit: interesting, the font tags don't close properly, you can close an italics and a bold with just an italics if you want.

I think that the way HTML is defined, closing the outer tag implicitly closes the inner ones, in a please-don't-rely-on-this way.

None of this has a closing tag except the bold, right before this plain text.

Edit: Heh, it is consistant across browsers! I now know some new forum trickery: different coloured strikethroughs from the rest of the text.
see?

General Discussion / Re: iPhone jailbreaking is now legal

I might be wrong, but don't people jailbreak their IPod to download apps illegally?
From what I think I know:
Yes, jailbreaking is required to download apps illegally, however, it is the same as how you need an internet connection to browse the bay12 forums: Yes, it is required, but that doesn't mean that it is *only* used for it. The bay12 forum is one site in the entire internet, similarily, illegally downloaded apps would only be one of many reasons someone may want to jailbreak their ipod.

There are quite a few games I have seen where it is 2D, but there is a background layer behind the destructable terrain that is purely visual. This seems like those, where the background layer implies that the land has structural support from behind and/or in front even though you cannot interact with it.

I just noticed something:

There is an overheated reactor that needs cooling, and a few heat sinks in the same area.
With my continuing lack of combat ability/equipment...
>Use heat sink(s) to cool reactor, hopefully greatly reducing the risk of spontaneous party explosion from it.

If you can tell me why, I can adjust it.

It would not lag either more or less than it does currently, isometric just controls how the clients display everything. Although, it would require a total resprite...

The game is probably best the way it currently is, though.

Is the site down? I can't get to it.

I'll just post it here, then.

Did you ever read that BYOND supports isometric views?
To see how well it would work, earlier today I threw together a simple isometric game, then for the Fun of it, added the map loader and a procedural map generator.

Isometric Space Station 13 is somewhat of a possibility.
(download, if you want it)

And now back to the regular lack of activity ever since the other forums opened...

What, you do't want to download anything?

Do you have Visual Basic? If so, create a project, place a WebBrowser control, seit it's allowNavigation property to false and it's URL property to either http://www.transformice.com/en/ChargeurTransformice.swf or http://www.transformice.com/en2/ChargeurTransformice.swf.

Then simply run it.

If you don't have a .NET based language and don't want to download someone else's program, then you will have to find some other way to keep it in a single tab...

Also, they stopped me from putting the client in its own tab and I don't want to do a download of the client.

I have frequently posted a link to a download of a compiled VB project that uses your browser to open the page but disables navigation, so it can't redirect you...

That, or OpenTTD took away one or more of the few remaining /room bay12 players, and the rest just stopped after a week or so... (I'm guessing for that)

Any sort of lottery is worthless.

Now, this? Since you get a physical product that you normally would purchase anyway, and it just happens to have a chance to win a prize if you purchase it during a certain month or so, and the price remains unchanged from the rest of the year...

No, thost are the types of definition, not rule types, although I just noticed a place where it could be more clear...

Altered version:
# - Defined syntax, second attempt.
#.A - There shall be a list of terms and definitions that may optionally be used within rules to add clarity, etc.
#.A.I - The list of terms and definitions will be maintained alongside but not as a part of the official rule list.
#.B - Each entry in the list of terms and definitions must specify one type:
#.B.I - Clarification
#.B.I.a - This merely ensures that everyone interprets a word or phrase the same way, and should closely match it's use in the English language. It requires a unanimous vote to change one.
#.B.II - Variable
#.B.II.a - This term is intended to change often, and only requires majority support to alter.
#.B.III - Important
#.B.III.a - These are terms that should not change very often, and thus require 80% support to alter.
#.B.IV - Very important
#.B.IV.a - These are terms that should not change very often, and thus require unanimous support to alter.
#.C - Addition and removal
#.C.I - To add or remove a term to/from the list of terms and definitions requires the same support as altering it would require.
#.D - When a term is used
#.D.I - All terms must be visually distinct from regulat occurances of the phrases they use. This distinction should be in the form of colour, font, capitalization, or font decoration, and it must make the term visually distinct from any phrase previously used within the rules.
#.D.I.a - Without exactly matching the visual distinction and text of a term, any otherwise similar phrase will remain unaffected by the definition contained within the list.
#.E - This rule is initially immutable.
