DF Gameplay Questions / Re: War Dogs Fighting Skills
« on: March 11, 2012, 01:02:08 pm »
How does this exactly work? I remember checking dogs' attributes in runesmith, then training to war dogs and checking again and their attributes (strength, agility, etc...) remained the same...

I think in the wiki says, and common knowledge around the forum is that they get stronger and other upgrades...

Use legends viewer, do an advanced search for historical figures, that have active interaction containing deity_curse_vampire or deity_curse_werebeast and order by race...

Let me know your results I've been having problems genning worlds with lots of vampires/werebeasts as well for fortress mode....

Since you play adventurer, do you know what does it mean for a figure status to be "wandering" or "none" or "scouting" instead of "settled", and do they belong to which civ when in those states?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: vampire frequency
« on: March 11, 2012, 12:47:06 pm »
I'm starting to think that maybe savagery, or the number of megabeasts, titans and semimegabeasts, have an effect on it....

I've been trying to gen a pocket world, with all the features (all the neighbours, including tower) a patchwork biome, high savagery and lots of caves volcanoes and semi/megabeasts, titans... I even increased the werebeast and vampire curses to max and tried genning 250, 500 and 1000 years histories.

When I check the historical figures of these worlds in legends viewer I usually end up with lots of werebeasts (not 1000 by any means, a 100 or so maybe) all of them "wandering" or with no status, and none or a handful of vampires (I'm lucky if I get 1 to be a dwarf) and they are never "settled", only "wandering" or without a "status".

With longer histories (1000 years) I get a few dozen vampires, but a handful being dwarves and from those maybe 1 or 2 actually settled somewhere, that always turns out to be a human town and not a mountain halls....

Also noticed that I get human kings in my dwarven civs...

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: SCIENCE!!: Vampire source populations?
« on: March 10, 2012, 07:21:46 am »
Yeah, but has anyone checked their vampires on legends? I did check both of mine using legends viewer, that's how I found out about that it is not a requirement for the vampire to be settled in your parent civ.

I would like for people that have confirmed vampires to post their findings or at least post a save so we can check them in legends.

667
what are those buildings? I mean in-game, I've never really bothered to dig through the in-game legends.

DF Gameplay Questions / SCIENCE!!: Vampire source populations?
« on: March 09, 2012, 06:05:05 pm »

Some people keep telling that vampires need to be historical figures that belong to your parent civ... has this been confirmed?

I got a confirmed vampire that I checked on legends viewer and he was settled in another dwarven civ.

I wonder if it's even required for them to be settled, or in a dwarven civ?

Can we do some science here? would people with confirmed vampires check them in legends viewer and post their results here?

I'm genning worlds where I only get dwarven vampires settled in human towns or wandering, and I'm discarding them because the only confirmed info I got is for them being settled in any dwarven civ.

Does this create "absolutely batshit crazy trade balance" out of thin air? If so, does dumping the caravan again to get the gems still count the retardedly high trade balance when they leave?

This could create exponentially huge caravans without producing a damn thing!
The conventional wisdom about this, is that the exported/imported wealth is related to the items that leave/enter the map...

So if a caravan enters with 10,000 value worth of goods and leaves with only 10 value worth, the next caravan should be smaller in value because they got ripped off.
if they leave with more then the next caravan would be more valuable and so on...

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: DF2010 WorldGen "Cookbook" Thread
« on: March 08, 2012, 06:32:51 pm »

Here is the seed, it generates a nice pocket patchwork world, 500 years, with high savagery, lots of caves, beasts, volcanoes, all the civs, towers, lots of werebeasts, and vampires still need a tweak, I got lots of them but only 3 are dwarfs and they are settled in human towns...

For some reason I'm also getting human kings in some of my dwarven civs...

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Sand Bag Troubles
« on: March 08, 2012, 06:18:04 pm »
haven't tried, but only enabling standard qualities shouldn't suffice? after all sand has no quality modifier...

So just for clarification...I can steal the clothes off their backs, sell them back....do they then put them back on, or do they partake in Dwarven Nekkid Time™? And if they put them back on...how many times can you steal the same clothes from a set of merchants and thus make them ecstatic about the great deals they're getting......buying their own clothes in return for everything they own over a whole bunch of trades.
they don't put them back on, if you sell them back is the same as you were selling any other clothes, they become part of the caravan inventory.

Did you up the number of curses? This would presumably up the instance of curses, and therefore vamps and werebeasts as well.
yes, I upped vamps to 40 and weres to 20 (from 10)

I just genned a 1000 years world, the weres were fine, the vamps... got lots of them but only 1 dwarf vampire and settled in a human town to top it of....

I'm genning a pocket pachtwork world, but I'm having trouble getting vampires and werebeasts, when I check in legends viewer, sometimes I have none, or small numbers, anyway to get a siezable pop of fun historical figures?

My world has all the civs, lots of caves, volcanos, I'm just missing the vamps and weres....

does running longer histories help? i was genning 250 years...

675
I'm running 1.13.03, searching for historical figures I'm still getting UNKNOWNS:
<figure> "was wounded (UNKNOWN) by" <figure>
<figure> "became a UNKNOWN JOB in" <site>
<figure> "linked (UNKNOWN) to" <figure> --> these seem to be the spouses, maybe should read "got married to"?

"a (UNKNOWN ITEM) was stolen from <tower> by (UNKNOWN HISTORICAL FIGURE). In a theft."
<figure> tamed UNKNOWN in the depths of the world. In a journey."

Thanks for the update, I see the vampire curses, werebeasts and secrets are showing now.
