I know that this is impudent of me, but...Is there anybody who could make an alt to join my army? I've been doing okay, but most guys it pairs me up with are a good chunk stronger, and I lose a good 50% of my fights.

Here's my character info:

T-Harrey
Weapon(s): Shotgun, Favored.
Skills: Twinoid, Take Cover!

Daviney
Weapon(s): Pistol, Infernal Tube (Favored)
Skills: Take Cover!

Once I replace Harrey's shotgun with a proper mid-ranged weapon, I should be a lot better off. I could badly use the tokens...Please?

@Geen: I clicked your link and made a new character, maybe you could do so for me? Thanks!

And so set out the band of adventurers. Malakai, an Elven Wizard, Triel, an Elven Archer, Urist, a Dwarf Warrior, Davion, a Human Warrior, and Wrungbeerd, a Dwarven Priest.

Then they were ambushed and died.
the end.

(Okay, fine, only the crappy wizard died. Then I did quests, got to level 2, was a badass, then my dwarven cleric died due to a f**king wisp. I recruited a human cleric, then in a fight against ORC GRUNTS the bastard dies. Luckily I still make it to the dungeon, where I dodge monsters, and get epic loot! And then run out of turns!?)

Very fun game!

Also, Juere Claymores are queen in Elona, always.

Fixed that for you.

Does a travelling merchant's rank increase the difficulty of robbing him? So, will a rank 94 be easier or harder to rob than, say, rank 20000 or something?

I think so, but be aware that rank 94 is extremely high. I mean extremely high. To put it in context, that value goes up by 1 each time you invest in a given shop. Most normal shops are 10-20.

I wouldn't bother with trying to rob them until you're pretty high leveled anyhow, as they have a fairly strong force of guards. If you're looking for cash, just find a good lute, bless it, and start practicing your Performer skill on low leveled followers and townsfolk, assuming you have Performer.

No performer, none at all. I used a harmonica I had found, and died from a stone.

NEVER AGAIN...

Yea, dodge and protect... And it depends, are you trying to be able to dodge well or take hits well?
Also, speed is always good, always.

I, uh...Don't really know. I'm a warrior though! Probably protect, to be honest. Thanks for the info! :P

Oh, damn lol. Well, thanks man! I'm glad that I didn't attack him, I'd be wasted!

Sorry, more questions...Is a glass armor with 8 DV better than a metal armor with -1 DV and 10 PV? The glass has speed +4, and ## on speeding body metabolism and shields. DV is, uh...Dodge value? I think PV is protection value. Sorry! Thanks :P.

Cost a fortune though...There goes 4000 gold D:

Alternatively, you could've just held it for a while. You don't need the appraisal skill in order to appraise things, and you already know what the attributes are.

Oh, uh...Huh. Well, darn lol. Oh well, just a few more delivery quests! And, wow, I almost got eaten by a Kobold. Bloody hell! Thanks so much man! :P

EDIT: Sorry for more questions! Argh...Does a travelling merchant's rank increase the difficulty of robbing him? So, will a rank 94 be easier or harder to rob than, say, rank 20000 or something? Much much much appreciated!!

Yeah, it is. Huh, wow. Cool, resistance to sound! I have a mutation that makes me, uh, less resistant to sound. Thanks man! Cost a fortune though...There goes 4000 gold D:

OH! That is really neat, lol. I haven't done an escort quest as of yet, but I do deliver lots of items! Kinda sucks when those damn, uh...whatchamacallit, kobolds att-Wait.

whatchamacallit is a word? What the heck!?

Edit: I killed some hermit crab, and it dropped an amulet. I tried to identify it, but it says that I need a higher identification to, uh...identify it? Where can I do this? Thanks!

Kay, did it! Thank you! I got a pair of, uh, magical...paper seven league boots. Wait, paper? That's, uh, cool I guess..

Hey! Nifty stats, much appreciated :D what does the #####+ mean? Is that good or bad? It says it speeds up my travel.

Okay. I just started playing, and after hitting level two, I drank from a well a few times. It's telling me to enter a wish. Uh...What do I enter? Is this rare? Please answer! Thanks.

Wow. First fight, I had a guy with a machine gun and sniper. Enemy had some kind of automatic pistol. I draw the machine gun, guy shoots it out of my hands. I draw sniper...shot out of hands. >_> damn

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Utopia: the quest for the perfect fortress!
« on: November 08, 2011, 12:14:41 am »
Define 'utopia'. Pure dwarven utopia or human utopia?

Human utopia is everyone living in perfect harmony, without a care or a [MANDATE] in the world.

Dwarven utopia is blood, guts, vomit and beer spilled across the halls with insane dwarves and children sitting in the fetal position and what's left of the population running, screaming, killing and burning everything. Demons fighting beasts fighting goblins fighting elves. Magma seeps from every orifice to the surface. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Really? My dwarfs are awfully content sitting in their rooms, drinking legendary booze and admiring epic statues. Quite content indeed...

To OP: Symmetry. On absolutely EVERYTHING. Let the OCD inside of you take control! RAAAWR!

@Itnetlolor: Oh my gosh! I absolutely ADORE Recettear. Awesome picture! :D

Such a good game! I still need to finish the Obsidian Tower, myself...

Wow, lucky! I can't get past the tree-area where you meet the ranger girl. I'm on New Game+, my first one. I use Charme, because she's insanely awesome and fast. I hope this post doesn't get in trouble for not being on topic, but..C'mon, another Recettear fan! It's worth a potential ban!

On topic, these humans just won't enter the depot. What the heck? The bridge is down, perfect pathing (I sent my military to them and back), yet they just...sit outside my fort? Huh?

I have no idea what could be wrong with your human merchants. Sometimes the game just likes to spawn creatures with nary a brain cell in their skull. Try sealing the fortress to ensure you break their pathing, then open it up again. Not sure about that either, honestly. If not, try threatening them by sending the militia after them, then call them off before they actually start fighting. Might scare them out of whatever dead-brain zone they're stuck in.

Hmm, thanks. It's strange, they haven't moved in over six months. Like, at all, not even shifting position. Maybe if I get a siege they will. It's kinda like they just...froze there. Also, I added a spoiler to my previous post, you're right. I was kinda a dick, but I freakin' hate clowns, and I hate any mentioning of them. Please forgive my impromptu un-dwarfiness.

candy spears. in at least one fort I had, I had tons of candy. huge underground spire of the stuff. so I would make equipment for all my fighters, then a few decorations, and then Id churn out 5 or 6 spears. the spears when they we masterwork go for about... 105,000 DB you can trade for everything a caravan has for a single candy spear. by the end of that forts lifetime, the dwarves were all decked out in foreign jewels and they were using elven crafts to fuel their hearths. every child had golden trinkets brought from the mountainhomes, every wife had silver and platinum finery, and every husband could enjoy a mug of the finest booze from all over after a hard days work, putting his feet up on a nether-cap footstool and whiling away the hours thinking on subjects such as art, literature, and !!SCIENCE!!. unfortunately, I got worried about the spire I was digging from and decided to move to another one. a single strike of the pick, and the circus came to town, they brought all the jugglers, clowns, the bearded lady, and the dog faced boy. ah, good times... anyways, what Im trying to get at is, always have a few spare candy spears on hand.

0.0 hey what are 'candy spears'?

"Candy" stands for Adamantine, the most precious metal found in spires underground. It's worth a bagazillion, and makes amazing bladed weapons and armor (But not blunt weapons, being light and all.) If you dig too deep though, you'll breach hell and let the demons out. People call Adamantine Candy for some reason, and Demons "Clowns". I think they're all crazy.

When in discussion of HFS, please refer it as "the Circus" or "HFS". When referring to ze Clowns...
use "Clowns." Also, Adamantine is referred to as Candy as anti-spoiler, as well.

When in discussion of DF, please refer it as "the Pony" or "TP". When referring to ze Ponies...Use "Ponies." Also, Bay12 is referred to as Marmalade as anti-spoiler, as well.

Please use these terms from now on, due to the fact you're spoiling DF and Bay12 for me. Thanks!

It's much more fun just to deconstruct the depot with them in it, honestly.

Naw. I just attack them. Well, except for the Elves. I like the elves. The dwarves and humans die although.

I generally just set up a few cages full of trapped goblins, and then release 'em en-mass to slaughter my foes! But not the Elves. NEVER the elves.

Not after that *shudder* donkey incident. Nice elves. Very nice elves, with very un-nice donkeys. Good elves, you may have 50K profits. Gooood elves. Now, go away. Bye bye, elves! Bye bye, killer donkeys.
