So, during my first first real game, were half my fort died to thirst and I had no clue how to make my infrastructure at first, I was finally getting up a decent fort.
Then a Forest Titan (steam humanoid with some poison) came along, and having a totally rubbish army (I had no metal, and the little in weapons I manged to trade to me was hardly of any note). So I did the sane thing and raised my drawbridge and closed the fort. Hopeing to strike metal soon on my digging so I could make some equipment. That platinum I had was just not cut out for weapons

. I am also still fumbling with my squad management I think. not sure if they are training at all.
Regardless, I was digging down when I suddenly found a magam sea. All was good, but my legendary miner burned himsellf to dead. I had a few more. Also adamantium was found! Figuring that was what I needed to get my army up and running to kill the titan (btw, adamantium battel axes or short swords?) and keep my fort safe in the future I tunneld to it and got a fair ammount hauled up for extraction and melting,
but in my greed I dug too deep in the strand, and as if the titan camping me in was not enough, hoards upon hoards of ash demons pourd forth. Somewhat panicing I tried raising my internal draw bridge down to the mines... but it was not working. (note to self, test this stuff first in the future). OK, plan B. Build some walls, and fast. I was not fast enough, and the locked doors was made short work of and demons pured into the heart of my fort, killing my entire army in 4 seconds, and the rest of the fort followed quickly, with one message standing out "baby dwarf killed in cloud of fire". Also, some migrants arrived, and a goblin siege. The migrants, except one died to the titan, but somehow 1 dwarf was still alive and the titan not to be seen. Maybe he killed it, I dunno. Regardless the hoards of goblins pourd on him and with the entire fort inside dead, and bush fires rageing outside the fort was definatly lost.
Although an unexpected turn of event, it was definatly fun.
But my question, is it possible at all to hold the demons at bay? Will a wall work if I make it in advance to seal them in? E.g. a raised bridge at teh entrance to the adamantium vein? If that is the case I can dig out one and one level if nothing else.
