Now, 42-1 had precisely zero experience with money other than Jarvis' short lesson, but even he could tell that these numbers were much smaller than what the Anna was demanding.

: "Are these prices more reasonable, sir? The cost of this iron sword is a mere 4.44-repeating% percent that of the one in the other store."

Ah ha! Perhaps this would be an opportunity to try "trading" for the first time!

You almost certainly have had a blood test befoe

Apparently not, according to my parents and the medical history available to my doctor.

They stick you and then like 30s later you're done.

This is the entire process.
Well, there's rather a lot more to it than that. It's all the donor is involved in, though.

: "If I may be so bold, sir, perhaps an apology to the lady is in order. You did knock her down, sir."

1055
: "You are still being mysterious. Why is it so important to store these books? What are you planning?"

1056
: "My old master blew himself up a few months after my creation. How does trading and buying work?"

1057
42-1 looked down at the useless dagger hilt in his hand.

: "Your pride is well-deserved, I am sure. Good day, ma'am." He followed the snake man out, making sure to replace the hilt on the shelf before leaving.

1058
: "I do not understand. This equipment is not free to take?"

1059
: "You are most generous to provide such equipment, ma'am." The homunculus grabbed a dagger off a shelf and began walking towards the store's exit.

42-1, lacking any more pressing duties, followed the man with the stuffed animal on his head into the blacksmith's shop.

Yes but in Avatar the human is the one who saves the day

In Samurai the human is the one who trains the Westo-Japanese Army, then goes native, then gets killed together with all the Last Samurais by the Westo-Japanese Army he trained as it ruins their metaphorical day
I'm sorry, but...

Maybe a bad choice of words, there.

: "The Old Gods work in mysterious ways, don't they? I understand if this sounds incredible, but the Orb did indeed point us to those three locations, and we did find all three treasures. It didn't even require special magic to do its work; you just have to place your hands upon the orb in a certain way and have a map handy. Perhaps, if you visit the palace, you can be given a demonstration."

: "As for the museum...it was horrible. A perfect storm of unlucky events that not only prevented us from acquiring the diadem peacefully, but forced us into battle with the city guard. I still have nightmares."

But the quote says three billion, not three million. I think you misread something.

It's important to note that there are always exceptions to a normal lifespan. Housecats generally only go for about 15 years on average, but some specimens have lived for 20 years or more. It doesn't seem impossible for a bird with a lifespan more than double that of a cat to manage an extra 4 years.

: "I'll begin, if there are no objections. I have been involved in this matter longer than Fer has, though I admit to not being present at the start of it." The nun took a moment to organize her thoughts.

: "As I understand it, Captain Ethan and his crew uncovered the first of these artifacts, a crystal orb, in the course of their...business, I suppose. Not knowing what it was and, I assume, wanting to know how much it was worth, they traveled to the House of Scholars to learn what they could. I joined them in Di, as I was under assignment to travel to the House myself on an unrelated matter.

"The Abbess of the House quickly figured out that the orb was in fact the Royal Orb of Alvada, an artifact that pre-dates the Reckoning. According to the Abbess, its appearance is a sign that great catastrophe approaches our world. Fortunately it also reveals the location of other artifacts that, when assembled by royalty, are said to avert the catastrophe that the Orb presages.

"On orders from the Abbess, Captain Ethan, his crew, and myself first traveled to Port Omega, where we found the second artifact underneath an old church. It was an old bracelet, quite clearly from before the Reckoning, yet pristine despite a lack of obvious magic about it.

"From Port Omega we traveled on to Demon's Grin, where Fer joined us."
Amberly gestured for Fer to take over, mostly because this was his family and he should be able to share his story, but also because she was out of breath.
